Pickford withdraws from England squad

Maybe the club are just playing safe. These miracle injuries and recoveries do happen.


Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom has been called into the England Under-21 squad ahead of Tuesday’s UEFA European Championship Qualifier against Norway.

It follows the withdrawal through injury of Chelsea’s Dominic Solanke. Also not joining up with the Three Lions through injury are Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and Reading’s John Swift.

Tickets for the game at Colchester United’s Community Stadium on Tuesday 6 September 2016 (kick-off 5.45pm) cost just £10 for adults and £5 for children and concessions and are on sale now.

Apparently he suffered a slight thigh strain in the Southampton game and has been withdrawn as a precaution according to safc.com

 

I'd be inclined to tell the club to **** off, if they were to start pulling me out of games while I was starting to build my international career.

Sky sports reported due to an injury - you can;t "pull out" of a squad without reason can you?

It's probably one of these "Oh I hurt my left knacker in training - better withdraw from the England U21 squad" or "Actually, I'm 22 so I shouldn't be playing for them anyway!
