It's not us doing as well i'm worried about, its the amount City, Utd and Chelsea all strengthened AND underperformed last season. I wonder about Leicester, surely they can't do it again, but after last season who bloody knows? I can see us 5th behind the usual big 4 again this season. Hopefully not 6th below Pool though

I agree to an extent, but I fear that we're seeking to make less of a go of it than we were last time. I hope I'm wrong. I'd like to see some real desire to do well in the competition rather than just enjoy it and see how far we get.

We have a chance to make an impact.

What Green-eyed bollocks. The guy has blown hot and cold for Newcastle, but was superb for France at Euro 16.

He clearly has great ability, it's our manager and coaches job to get him producing it consistently.

Seemingly, you can't even Wum properly without making a **** out it!...

I'm sure we'll have the desire, but we have to be realistic about the talent we could come up against past the group stage, should we qualify. Just like last time, there's no pressure on us, and I believe we're stronger overall.

You think I'm jealous because you spent 30m (£30,000,000) on someone who has scored 11 goals in his 118 Premier League appearances for Newcastle?

<laugh> Whatever helps you sleep at night, I suppose.

Maybe you hadn't noticed that he's not a striker?...

He's a winger/midfielder. It's their job to score/make goals and he averages a goal or an assist every 6 games.

Riyad Mahrez averaged a goal or assist every 1.3 games last season. That's the level you've got to reach if you want to achieve anything in this league <ok>

He's a completely different type of player to Mahrez, who has had very limited time in the PL, anyway.

He has played for France 44 times. You don't get to do than if you don't have something going for you, which he clearly does.

As has been said, he eclipsed the three times more expensive Pogba at Euro16. With players like Slimani costing £29mill, Benteke .£27mill, and Luiz £34mill, it's not that bad a price.

£30m for Sissoko "isn't that bad a price"?

What on Earth are you smoking? <laugh>

A comparison with Kante and Drinkwater would be more accurate in relation to how he'll be used by us I reckon. You'll find he made more key passes, a similar number of assists and goals as either of them. All that in a team that went down.

Well done for your achievements in the league though.<applause>

You're comparing defensive midfielders with a winger/attacking midfielder.

I'm not here to tell you what you should think. I'm just laughing at what you do think.

£30m for Sissoko goes down as the most laughable transfer in British football history in my eyes. Sorry chaps but Newcastle have had your pants down for the second time in just a few months.

Obviously something you should smoke too, it might bring you back into the real world of the prices of footballers today.

I gave you some glaring examples, so you're either terminally dense, or trying your idea of a Wum.

Either way, you're not doing very well!

So by your logic, Mesut Ozil, a top player, played 35 league games last year, scored 6 goals and got 19 assists. An average of a goal or assist every 1.4 games, similar rate to Mahrez, but is therefore a **** player as arsneal didn't achieve anything, yes?

Slimani - scored 27 goals in the 5th best League. Bargain.
Benteke - Averaged around 1 in every 2.5/3 games for his entire career. Liverpool did well to not make a loss but guaranteed goals for Palace.
Luiz - Sold for 50m, three seasons later after Luiz had been in the World Team of the Year they bought him back for 34m even with the hike in television money. Bargain.

    Ozil is at that level.

One in every 6 is miles away from it.

Are you seriously suggesting that Sissoko plays in a similar role to the likes of Ozil or Mahrez?

The conversation has taken a sharp turn into the bizarrely aggressive so I can only assume that you're talking to my favourite Leicester fan, and that he has now made exactly the same point half a dozen times albeit using slightly different emojis.

No he's not. He's at 1.4 and arsenal didn't achieve anything. - it's ridiculous logic.

Or Slimani, Benteke or Luiz <laugh>

Great choice of examples to make a point!

The best attacking midfielder in the League and the best Winger in the league.

Given that Sissoko's claims to be a £30m attacking midfielder/winger then, yes. I'm afraid so.
