It's ok, we're going to pay it in installments of £50 a year until Mike Ashley gets locked up for inhuman working conditions.
    I bloody hope that's what we're doing, anyway! <laugh>

We're going to hide the money's worth on the person of DeAndre Yedlin and Ashley will have to search his new employee for it.

Did we get Sissoko on a Zero Hours Contract from Ashley who has penchant for them.

What did Newcastle do to deserve him!

Both clubs are keeping the fee under wraps. **** knows why, as it'll be in our financial reports.

Half of the PL clubs spent £20M or more on a player. Some did it again and again.

    Crazy money

What a contrast to the lower leagues where many clubs brought in 10, 15, even 20 players on free transfers or loan deals

All prices in Euros cos, well cos I couldn't be bothered to find another website that had them in GBP:

Bolasie was 30m, Ayew was 24m, Arsenal signed a holding MF and a defender both for over 40m, Benteke was 30m, Luiz has gone back to Chelsea for 40m, Stones was 55m (!) and come to that Man City have signed about five players for 20-30-odd million. They signed some German kid with about three caps for 45m! Paul Pogba (very good player but in the Ronaldo/Bale class of "You must break the world record to sign this player"?) was 105m. We sold Ryan Mason for about 15m, Chadli for about 17m.

In light of all that I don't think we were massively taken to the cleaners for 35m (in Euros) for Sissoko.

Besides we're fans. We're not directors or owners. Who gives a **** what they cost? It's not our money and this isn't our computer game. Point is that he and N'Koudou and Lopez and Wanyama and Jannsen are all Spurs players and need to perform and train hard and do what Poch needs them to do. Sissoko doesn't have to play 3x better than Wanyama. Likewise N'Koudou can't just be happy with being 1/3 of the player Lamela is.

If the main problem with Sissoko is his attitude then I think Poch is just the man to bring out the best in him. I have zero fear of Sissoko behaving like a brat. Harsh though Poch is you know damn well that he just won't have it and though we might end up having to flog him at a knock-down price this is literally the worst-case scenario. Him creating dressing room unrest just won't happen. Him not trying hard enough against lesser opponents won't happen (more than once or twice before he finds himself frozen out for good and training with the U-18s).

Isn't Sissoko the sort of more forward-thinking dynamic midfielder that people were hoping for as cover for Dembele? (Again - forget the price. You can bet that Poch won't be thinking "Jeez - he cost 30m I better put him in the starting 11").

Sissoko played three to five good games a season for us. He's a lazy heartless bastard. £30m? It's a joke.

France's Sissoko is worth that, Newcastle was worth £3m.

Give him ten games, you'll be calling him whose than ****e. Horrible person.

But what's Spurs' Sissoko worth? We'll see.

Well now we've paid 30m for him he's automatically worth more than 3m even if he never kicks a ball for us! His minimum fee if we were to flog him in January has to be around 20m. Cos, you know, he's a 30m player now. It's all ridiculous. We sold a youth product who had played about 30 mins of football for the first team for 8m this summer.

My only concern (and I'm sure this must come up in negotiations) is that it's is double-checked that any incoming player does actually know what Poch expects of his players (the training, the zero-tolerance of insubordination). So if a player doesn't fancy double sessions throughout the week or thinks it might be okay to not really chase back when they need to etc then they can be weeded out. I mean I know that all Spurs fans and most British football fans know what Poch expects from his players and his hard-nosed attitude but it might be worth checking that an actual footballer knows this since they might be utterly clueless about the world of football outside their immediate surroundings and then get a nasty shock when they sign for us.

That's all well and good. Maybe your manager can get more out of him the Pardew and Rafa could. The Sissoko we had was dreadful, the most self centred and egotistic player I've known. In the three or four years he's been with us, he's had probably 10 really good games. 90% of the time, he's anonymous. Absolutely fantastic at the Euro's, absolutely ****e for us. Unless you can get him playing half decent, we've had your pants down.

Look at the Newcastle fans views of him. Fans aren't wrong.

You mean you hope he didn't look at us during the end of season drubbing and think "that looks like an easy team to play for"

To Spurs Robbie Keane was easily worth 20m seven years ago though it's not just with the benefit of hindsight that I can say that he was never worth that much to any other team and most Spurs fans knew it. Hence him only being worth 12m to Liverpool just a few months later. Context is crucial.

Soldado was probably worth the 26m or whatever to Valencia but then only worth 10m or so to Spurs not much later. And yet I could completely believe that he could go on and be worth 30m for some club after leaving us. I don't see that as Spurs getting ripped off or Villareal getting a bargain. It's just that time and place and team-mates and formations and manager etc etc make big differences to how well a player performs and fits in.

The price is just what it takes to get a club to let you have a player. I hope no one would correlate transfer fee and likely ability too closely or concretely. Wages okay but fees are just subject to so many factors.

Anyway we can't complain too much at Spurs. Half our first 11 were complete bargains (Walker, Rose, Dier, Eriksen, Alli) and the rest were just reasonable fees (Lloris, Toby, Verts, Dembele) or Erik Lamela. Who was 30m. But then who would be happy to see the back of him now? Not me and I thought the guy was pure **** a year and a half ago. (Still think he's a bit dodgy but my God he has a fantastic attitude and team-ethic - absolutely always seems to be the happiest guy in the team when we score whether he had a hand in it or not).

I'm in shock. I never thought we'd do anything like that having been outbid by Everton. I expected us to shrug our shoulders and walk away. We've tossed the dice and are more in the game which is better than constantly coming up short and going into a season with insufficient talent. I wanted Wijnaldum, as did Mauricio Pochettino. That didn't happen for whatever reason, we got Sissoko and N'Koudou and kept Son, so we have options for the 3. We have some real pace and it seems like all of our signings 100% wanted to come to Spurs. I would count it as a successful window and we have a net spend to our name which is important in showing Kane, Alli, Dier that we mean to win something.

Now that he's ours, he's great and I will shout my lungs out for him. Can top managers like Mauricio Pochettino and Ronald Koeman be that wrong? Hopefully not. At least when we're up against it in the CL, we have a bench that looks like we mean business and can change the game. Even though we've lots of different viewpoints, that's what we all want, right?

Happy? Maybe and still very shocked. Let's make this season a belter!

I think most of us are in full agreement. Worth a flutter at the £16m we originally offered but we forged ahead, Levy miraculously blinked, and now we've probably been fleeced.

This is clearly a player with a 'shop window' attitude who no doubt will be angling for a move to Real or Barca if he has one good season with us. The slight comfort for me is that our manager runs a strict meritocracy; your price tag is irrelevant to him stacked up against actual performance. We have top-drawer competition for any of his natural positions, so if he wants a sustained run in the window - particularly the privilege of starting in the CL - he'll need to seriously knuckle down or he'll simply keep the bench warm for a year and be shipped out at a loss next summer. If we were reliant on him to come into and improve our first team, I'd be nervous as heck. But with Dier and Dembele an established and quality partnership with Wanyama and Winks challenging for playing time, Sissoko won't have the luxury of starting no matter how ****e he's playing. He only enjoyed this luxury at you because, no disrespect meant, the shower of ****e all around him was far worse.

Yeah - the noises coming from your lot don't fill me with blind optimism! But then Dembele was enfuriatingly inconsistent and ineffective for years until last season. We'll see.

Not liking the sound of him being the most self-centred and egotistic player you've known! What makes you say that?

Anyway - Poch is gonna make him a good boy. Either that or Poch is gonna make him a damn fine addition to the development squad. (It is sounding a bit more likely than I would want for the latter option to occur, mind).
