We are trying to sign Sissoko because we think we can get him for less than he is worth. Whether he is actually better than Winks remains to be seen. It's not heaven if we sign him nor hell if we don't. He makes our squad very slightly better.

We pretty much agree on Sissoko's worth to the squad. He's a real gamble and I don't want us to take it. Back when Ashley said he'd cost £35m, I said he'd go to Everton. Pretty good guess as it turned out. I wanted Wijnaldum and comparatively he'd have been a bargain as would Yunus Malli but we decided to shop at lastminute.****ed

The idea that we'd get him 'on the cheap' is a bit laughable on the final day of the window. We tried the same with Berahino and it got us laughed at. There are very few domestic bargains as everyone's minted and desperate. The more desperate you are, the less minted you become. No bargains.

"Hey Daniel, yeah, this is Rafa. What do you mean you’ll have the calamari and a glass of Merlot? Look, nobody’s offering more than change under seat cushions for Sissoko. Howz about we value him at 32 million, you bid 16, and we get some sucker to offer 25? I"ll give you 30% of the fee? No, no, 50 is too high...alright, we’ll compromise at 75..."

A reporter I follow on Twitter who I'm pretty sure used to work for SSN, (and I've never seen talk bullshit to be fair to him), has just tweeted saying that we're attempting to hijack the move for Sissoko.

It's the same guy that HBIC tweeted earlier regarding Pau Lopez. - he confirmed that news about 5 hours before it went official.

And now sky have just said "could Tottenham be about to scupper everton deal for sissoko.."

They are about to go to it.

I pray this £30m deal is based on performance related add-ons if he does join because otherwise we've been robbed in my opinion.

Good player but never a £30m calibre one. He won't even get in the team if all are fit either.

Most of us agree I'm sure. But right now I'll take extra depth, even if he is the wrong player. £30m - just imagine who we could have got for that money before today? <doh>

Yeah true, the depth is always handy don't get me wrong and as I've said before he is a good player. It's just the price leaves a sour taste. Like you say, that £30m could've been more wisely used. Hope it works out though if he does come. Provides great cover not just at CM but also in the advanced roles. 45 minutes until we find out if we have a new player or not!

Fair play to Newcastle though getting almost £60 million for their relegated midfield!

****ing hell I'd not looked at it like that, that's phenomenal business on their behalf!

Prices have gone nuts along with the amount of money in the game. I've now lost track of where 'value' is in this market.

I think all we can do is trust MP's judgement. He's got more right than wrong, so far anyway.

And, this is all assuming the deal actually happens.
