Welp, rather they spunked £30m on him than us.

I'm not saying Sissoko is the answer but our squad is thin. A few injuries (which we largely managed to avoid last season) and we will be relying on youth players. And with champions league it's not like we can play a weakened team to rest our first 11. We have so many matches I have a feeling we will not take the league cup or fa cup seriously again and realistically these are the only trophies we have a real chance of winning.
Maybe Pochettino sees something in these kids that we don't know about.
Maybe we are doing some deals which will surprise us all but I am not holding my breath!

Seriously, don't hold your breath. Levy won't pay the price, Everton will. All things being equal, he'd come to us for CL football.

The rest of the evening I expect to be a big nothing. I'd love to be proved wrong, but I very much doubt it.,

It's now that the hope begins to extinguish and reality begins to set in. There's that vain hope that maybe this year will be different but really we all knew who the signings would be today.
Think I may switch off now it's too depressing!

I know, and Levy is probably right not to pay 30 million, but that seems to be the price these days. Considering some of the deals we have done and considering he is a french international that played in the European final perhaps it's not too crazy.
I was looking forward to seeing a team that would have Sissoko, Dier and Dembele in it. That would be a team that wouldn't get pushed about!

I can see it both ways. Moussa2 would be useful addition, but i'm also wary that he blows massively hot and cold. When hot he's amazing, when cold you wonder what he's doing in the prem. Should you really be paying £30m+ (or even £20m+) for a player with no history of consistency? Not so sure myself.
If he comes in and performs consistently at or near his best then he'll be a good signing for whoever he goes to

I fear this may come to bite us in the arse later this season.

I completely agree, we don't have enough players to give every competition a go. Regrettably, you are right, we will cut those that we have a chance of winning. I wonder whether this will come to a close once the stadium is paid for or whether, like Arsenal, Joe Lewis intends to run us as Stan Kroenke does to enhance his pension?

Me too. I don't want to be negative there are so many good things about Spurs these days, but I do feel we have missed a trick here. Of course spending loads does not guarantee success but generally it does help. And when 2 of the teams below you have a net spend of about £160 million managing a decent champions league campaign and finishing top 4 is that bit harder!!

Is Joe Lewis actually a Spurs fan? I do wonder sometimes. If it was me and I had as much money as he had, I would just pay for the stadium and name it after me until the end of its life and leave it as my legacy!

Maybe Levy is working on bringing Isco in for early January to give the place a mid-season lift :)

Everton look real strong now with this addition. It's one thing leave him at Newcastle but a whole other thing to allow for the challenge of a closer team to grow bigger.

Everton have really spent some money and good luck to them. Bolasie, Sissoko and keeping hold of Lukaku has left them looking a real threat. Only positive is we have played them away already.

If he was planning it he would leave it to the last day of the transfer window!

Prem and CL will be predominantly first team with maybe one or two changes here and there.

EFL and FA Cups will be predominantly second string with a few first teamers.

Fail to see how this "squad problem" is a genuine issue.

    Hugo, Vorm, Lopez
    Walker, Tripps, KWP
    Toby, Jan, Kev, CCV
    Rose, Davies
    Dier, Wanyama
    Dembele, Winks
    Alli, Nkoudou
    Eriksen, Onomah, Carroll
    Lamela, Son, Edwards
    Kane, Janssen, Harrison

That's a big squad. Not forgetting players who can play multiple roles if required (Dier CB & RB. Davies CB. Wanyama CB. Alli, Eriksen & Carroll CM).

Poch rotated the FB's very wisely last season which kept them fairly fresh, he now has Wanyama to rotate for Dier (and Dembele), Janssen for Kane. Nkoudou will add pace which we've really needed, Son will be like a new signing if he avoids injury... It's really not bad, in fact I look at this squad and think it's quality.

For me, anyone else that comes in is purely a bonus, not a necessity. Have a little faith guys <ok>

Rather surprisingly, yes he is. However, he is first, last and always a businessman.

I like your positivity and up until dembele you are absolutely right. Beyond that winks is unproven as are onomah, Edwards and Harrison. IMO Carroll isn't a top 4 or champions league player.
I stand by the fact that after (roughly) our first 15 players we look under cooked. Unless these young players turn out to be special we will struggle this year to manage 4 competions successfully.

Young players only get better by playing. We need to have faith in them.

Having said that I'd bid 20m plus for Sissoko who may well be much better than that. But never 30m
