Pardew said that Enrique will be playing on Saturday and I cannot see the logic in this if he is close to a deal with Liverpool.

This is the final freindly before the Arsenal game so surely you would play another defender in his place, or is Pardew allowing him to say goodbye to the fans?

Maybe the Liverpool deal is not as cut and dried as the media are portraying it to be?

    What do you think?

Maybe he wants him to get injured then no one can buy him

There's been no bids for Enrique yet, so why not play him?

Because I get the distinct feeling that (barring injury) they will both be lining up against Arsenal

If there are no concrete offers, then he is still out first choice LB and would start against Arsenal

I have a funny feeling it might be to say bye to the fans. But it does strike as being a bit odd.

I think the deal is less certain than the media think tbh.

I think he'll leave, but maybe Pardew thinks if we can get off to a good start then we can convince him to stay? Who knows lol

So they can string this out till deadline day and have a readymade excuse for no replacement?

Seriously I honestly cannot understand this at all unless he's staying. It makes no sense to play him.

Ferguson could actually be a like for like replacement for him, pacy, good in attack and has good awareness in defence at times. If he bulks up he could be a good LB with less of the fannying about Enrique does.

Can't be anything but a goodbye to the fans.

Did he say 'starting' or just 'playing'? He may just bring him on to get a goodbye in the last 5 minutes or something.

Apart from the fact he's a natural left winger. We've been here with N'Zog, Sunderland did with Richardson, it never works. Lets not go making Fat Sam type mistakes. By all means fill in when first choice is out but lets not ruin a young lads career by wasting his development years teaching him a different postion from his natural one. We need to let this lad develop in his natural position. As it stands we have only one left back on the books, Paul Dummett. I'm massively against Ferguson at left back. Mainly because I rate him highly and think its a waste.

Nothing official has been reported cause it only seems to be these numpty fanzine site who copy off of each other repoting.

I've seen nothing from a reliable source confirming this at all.

So at the minute as far as I'm concerned he's still an NUFC player.

Maybe he's not in demand as much as his ego (or Agent) is telling him, otherwise he'd have been gone ages ago.

  14. It's only paper talk that he's close to leaving, there's no evidence.

    Yes!

I'd hate to see him being played regularly at LB, he's too lightweight and whilst he could bulk up for the role he should be allowed to focus on being a winger. I'd much rather we brought in an established LB instead of play Ferguson there and by established I'm not talking a big signing, just a natural.

I agree, but taking into account we probably wont sign a LB I'm not against him playing there until MA decides to buy one.

Don't think we have any choice at all with Kadar unfit. They are our two makeshift left backs. Don't know anything at all about Dummett. Except he's Welsh. If we are not gonna buy a left it'll have to be Fergie for now. Such a shame though.

Aye, he could be our Garth Bale, one good season and valued over 40 mil <whistle>

Would be pointless playing Enrique, he is very likely to go to Liverpool and has made it very clear he doesnt want to be at this club any more. Sign someone , or until then play Kadar there, he's our best option (played for Hungary over the summer, so I'm hoping he's fit).

Kadar is a good option, and I thought he was fit but hasn't featured in pre-season.
