    Morning, Dave; morning, all. :)
Just noticed this phone predicts 'Dave' as my next word after 'morning'. If that's not clever enough, after the next 'morning' it offered 'all'. <applause>
It's bright and sunny, everyone's asleep, even offspring. We had a late night in Watford saying au revoir to my beautiful niece who's going to live in Canada for a year. :emoticon-0106-cryin
I'm still recovering from a stag do on Saturday, too.
Hope you all have a great bank holiday. <ok>

Morning all from a humid Jersey. I can't believe I'm even thinking this, but going into the office even though it's a Bank Holiday has an appeal as it's air conditioned.
Andy, if you were saying au revoir to your niece, does that mean that she's going to Quebec?

I love it when the phone tells me what to say next!
My bank holiday is a working one, feeling sorry for myself!

Morning all, cloudy here, and much cooler. Having spent a part of yesterday transporting water from the house to the far end of the estate, there is a forecast for a little light rain today. I need light rain for a week or two, but after today no more is on the horizon.
Enjoy your holiday as you have a wait before the next one. We have two in November when families get together and food shops only open for a couple of hours if at all. Family reunions are still highly thought of and guarded here, something I believe to be a good thing.

Anyone else think bank/public holidays should be scrapped and the equivalent days added to their holiday entitlement? Christmas excepted perhaps.

Morning all, the forecast of rain failed to materialize yesterday, so more moving of water required. :emoticon-0107-sweat Today my eldest granddaughter becomes a teenager. Until a year ago she had many health problems that did not get sorted in England, but the health service here has spent a couple of days with her and she is now thankfully a normal 13 year old able to join with her friends in eating what they have. At that age to be singled out as different, even if only in what they can eat, does not sit well with them. Going to have dinner with her and I gather that toad-in-the-hole is what she has requested, made with proper meaty French sausages. :emoticon-0100-smile

I think it depends on what you do with the day off. If you just want it to go shopping again then it is not really a holiday, and there are all those who work in shops who do not have the choice. People here tend to visit family and friends, or take part in sporting events, or visit various attractions. On balance I prefer to let people have a long weekend break at regular intervals as I think it will give them a lift if they have a boring time at work.

Why do banks need a holiday?? They never seem to be open anyway.

Another article from last Saturdays Telegraph connected with Watford.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...lter-mazzarri-im-like-a-father-to-my-players/

There was also another article summarising transfer spend this summer and we were about 6th spending over £50m before the latest 2 signings. The Pozzo's are very serious about us staying in the EPL methinks with greater expectations than mere survival I reckon. When did we last spend £50m on players, in fact have we ever spent that amount as a club until this summer?

Morning all. My next door neighbour tells me he will be away for a couple of months. He is flying out today at the start of his trip to Alaska. Tells me he just wants to go somewhere cool for a time.

Back in the swinging sixties I paid more than a week's wages (£5) to have my hair cut by a topless girl!

    It was amazing! :emoticon-0111-blush

Evening all. I know I put on the Pub Quiz thread about taking a break for a couple of weeks, but I need to wait until we stop having humid weather as trying to do too much when it's humid means I feel drained of all energy and that puts me at a greater risk of seizures.
