You should have seen the glowing praise PIXIE gave Nacer for his performance in the NLD game he scored in.
I'm not overly displeased with our business, so far, this season. I have enough faith in Poch to believe that he wouldn't let any player go if he didn't think that our academy could replace him with someone better, or that Levy hadn't promised a replacement with something better. I see Poch being here for the long haul. He's everything that Levy (and us fans) have been waiting so long for; I refuse to believe that there isn't a plan that extends, at the very least, to the end of our first season in our newly-built stadium. This season, we will consolidate. Next season we will build. I've see enough in the last two seasons to encourage me into thinking that my patience, this time, is going to be rewarded.
We needed a Striker, LB, DM & CB three years ago.. Got Striker & DM - still waiting on other positions.
NO. All going tits up at Sunderland. Expect ****ing fireworks tonight if nothing changes. It'll be bedlam.
Mixed feelings at the moment. You know the deal with Saints, sold 2 of our best players. Have bought a few in though in Redmond, Hojgberg (who looks a player) & Boufal who we broke our record for. Shame we won't see him until likely late September though due to injury. Exciting signing that one though. Also brought in a back up RB who's now injured for the season. Hoping for at least one more today.
I'm fairly happy... Klopp is the first manager we've had for a a while that's come in and been ruthless, you aren't good enough you're getting sold. Loads of dead wood sold. The ins look good, more than happy with Mane. Grujic will be an excellent signing too. Once Wijnaldem clicks with our front players he's a good buy. With all our spending - we've actually broke even due to people being sold (I think we've even gained money!). I know we've just spent shed loads on redevelopment - but I'm a little bemused why we haven't signed a LB. Best case scenario is we sign a LB and a DM today (not happening!) - either of those would make this window perfect for us. If neither come it's still a positive window.
I think your new stadium is going to be a bit of a mill-stone in terms of finance for a while. It seems that it's already having an effect on your ability to compete in the market (unless levy pulls off a master stroke today and I'm not talking about him tugging his wiener). I see the departures as levy reducing the wage bill rather than planning any dramatic transfer swoops. I hope your patience is good, because it's going to take more than one season of consolidation. The stadium build is a long term project and like us you will have to make the books balance, which will inevitably impact on how much you can spend on the team.
Of course whilst they are a Spurs, they are tainted goods. It doesn't mean they are not good players, just soiled from wearing a cock on their shirts. Once they leave though, they are redeemed
I think our "break even or make a profit" transfer policy for the past 5 or so seasons have been part of the funding plan as has our strict wage structure in comparison to the top clubs so hopefully the pain of paying for the stadium won't last too long.
So it's taken 2 months or so to get it sorted? Wenger wants to start forking out for 1st class stamps.
Pretty happy with Chelsea's business. Batshuayi looks pretty good, and has grabbed himself a couple goals already. Kante has completely transformed our midfield, him being there not only protect the back four, but looks like it has cut the anchors off the feet of Hazard and Willian, who are playing with a spring in their step and are not afraid to get forward now. We still need a CB and a LB tho. Looks like those two players are going to be Marco Alonso and David Luiz, from what I am hearing today. I always liked Luiz though defensively he can sometimes be a liability. I know nothing of Alonso so cannot comment there. Overall though, moderately happy.
I think we were trying to sign Higuain and Lacazette, so when they didn't come off, then it was back to Perez. Not our first choice, but still good that we got a striker in. Remains to be seen how he'll fair for us though.
