The real world. No happy clapping, no doom mongering, just a fair balanced personal assessment of our present situation. Great post.

That first 11 looks great but I would say Mvila instead of Catts makes it stronger.

The biggest issue is injuries, what happens when Kirch, Defoe and Kone are injured or suspended. That's my worry. Catts never plays more than 50% of the games in a season and it looks like Kirch won't either so they are like 1 player, we need another player to play next to them.

Same goes for Defoe, if he gets injured we are screwed. Even more so if Pickford gets injured.

So I expect to see at least: Goalkeeper, Midfielder and Striker to come in. Plus someone to replace Lens? or why let him go?

Bri, I often feel you see the club and the goings on through the same eyes.

It's not defeatist or negative or doom mongering, it's reality.

Every year we wait for the end of the window and come up way short, we love the club but there's always an excuse and the only common denominator is the owner.

We will never make it beyond also rans unless the club changes hands. I've said many times and maintain Ellis has been good for the club, converting debt, writing money off, but that is simply not enough.

He needs to take the leap and at the very least open up the extra TV revenue to the manager, or he needs to actively sell the club.

We wouldn't be short of takers, folk have paid mega millions for clubs with not 10% of our potential, without the facilities, the fanbase, the loyalty.

Only Burnley are stopping us from being poor relations but ****ing hell they signed Defour, a player who would have been smashing for us, for £6million.

WBA signing Chadli has wound me up as well.

    We aren't at the races.

I don't think its lack of spending, its just incompetence, things like buying Danny Graham. We have signed so much **** and listened to so much bad advice that we are actually ****ed.

The only way out really will cost a fortune and that's a sale of the club and a clearing of the decks. Send all the **** out on loan and then spend a fortune on building a new squad. Like burning down the house and re-building it to get rid of a dry rot infestation.

    Exactly mate.

Ellis did a great thing for us when he bought us, but he didn't buy my emotion, that's not for sale. He did not buy a right to keep me suspended in gratitude in some kind of emotional debt. I'm not in his pocket. The point has well and truly come where the way he runs our club has outweighed the gratitude I feel for him buying us. But where is that line for others? When we're relegated? When we're bust? We've already got more debt than when he took over. He took over because he could provide backing. He won't do that now, he's limited himself to the club the same way Drumaville had when Quinn knew we needed a new majority shareholder.. We need a buyer. Just like we did back then.

Maybe more so. Not in terms of financial ruin but in terms of falling so far back that we maybe never have a shot to compete.

He can peddle his numbers etc, but they don't stack up. If money is squandered its his ship to get in order, somebody is signing of HIS money and he can't pass that Buck regardless.

If by his own admission he keeps ****ing up his appointments then again, step away mate, if im **** at something I don't compound that for 10 years, I stop ****ing doing it.

    Positives

It looks like Moyes prefers Rodwell as a center half. Thats a positive imo, cos he isnt a midfielder thats for sure

Pickford and Gooch both look good. Pickford made one mistake, Hart made 2 in the Euros so he (Hart) can **** off to Torino and stay there for all I care. Pickford's distribution compared to Mannone will get made a big difference imo. Gooch doesnt look out of depth in the premier league.

Kirchoff will be back soon, so thats good.

Papy looks like a good player

Defoe isnt in the England squad, so cant get injured in the friendlies

Window is still open for another 12 hours, so we could still get a player or 2 in.

You can take Borini out of that starting eleven, for the next 6 months.
