As things stand ...........pickford.......... .manquillo..kone..bodji..pva .borini..catts..kirch..khazri.. ..........januzaj...... ......defoe................ Would give some teams a pasting....
Possibly mate but it's getting them all pinned down together on a team sheet that might be the problem.
Which league? Seriously though a lot rest on those creative midfielders (Januzaj, Khazri, etc.) as your defence looks good. If they get some confidence you'll probably be fine. There's less chaff this year though and teams like Palace and Watford have got some very good players.
I accept that is a slight problem. But all current members of the squad. I see a half decent team there.
We've done alright so far with a not so great on paper squad which is also heavily depleted with injuries so we're doing something right. If anything happens to Defoe though...
Right. Your moment is now done. We have one keeper and one striker. The keepers played about 5 games. Our midfield is shot to bits with injuries and pieced together with a young un (Gooch), an old un (Peinaar) and Rodwell whose league stats suggest we haven't won 1 f****** league game when he has started. Whats not to get worried about. Anyway got England to look forward to at weekend to cheer me up.
Don't think I was part of that moment. we'll be lucky to get 30 games out of that midfield two combined. Nowt wrong with being realistic. We're in for a battle and a half. I'm not going to delude myself.
Well you only need to get to January, Cattermole will be back by then, and M'Vila will be fed up with Sassuolo and come to you guys on loan.
Depends on the opposition but obviously yes. We just competed against Southampton with a much weaker team. Every team in the league can put out a decent team out if injuries magically stop being a factor. But they are a factor. We can't even put the team out you're posting so still don't see your point. If you mean is that a good starting 11 than yeah, it's ok. Will it paste anyone? Probably not, we tend not to paste anyone. It would get wins. It's weaker than the one that finished last season while everyone else is stronger. So I'm not happy with it. Can't pretend to be.
The overall squad is the issue, as stated. We have a few prone to knocks, and they are big ones, Catts, Kirch.. If we lose 2 or 3 we are in dire straits, also overplaying the gifted young lads in a difficult season could destroy their development. The club, on the playing side, needs a massive investment that Short simply isn't going to do, we will likely tread water again but what price progress? Every side in the league, certainly our direct rivals, has spent well or spent big, and we are sitting here trying to piece a squad together. I'm trying to stay out active as performances haven't been half bad and the first 13 or so are certainly good enough, there's just that thought that we are going to be even more prone to injuries as people won't be rested, and a circle and free fall could occur. I'm hanging onto the belief we get 2 or 3 in but being rejected for Hull by Mason seems a damning sign, players are rejecting us out of hand left right and centre. It's hard to look away and keep composed around it, but I will do my best until tomorrow.
