Assuming that is roughly accurate, that is no big deal if in the Spurs wage structure
you believe what Isco brings to the squad would justify those wages if he was an
    current Spurs player.

Janssen and Wanyama I am ok with.
But regardless of who has left, most were players with proven PL experience
(which is a big concern) . Isco would have the potential for a bit of VDV factor, but
the jury is out on any other incomings.

The Standard's reporting that Eriksen's on the verge of signing a new four-year contract.

They must be so disappointed to report this, given they've been linking him with a move to Juve since about March...

The ES will go with this tired click-bait for as long as Eriksen is at Spurs.

Ok, so as things stand, presuming GKN and Lopez are in and N'jie and Mason are off, here's two possible teams.

    Lloris
    Walker Toby Verts Rose
    Dier Dembele
    Lamela Alli Eriksen
    Kane

    and

    Vorm/Lopez
    Tripps CCV Wimmer Davies
    Wanyama Carroll
    Onomah Son GKN
    Janssen

    + Winks, Edwards and Co.

We're fine just about everywhere except for anyone who plays in front of Wanyama, but behind Janssen.

Carroll - yet to see anything that's going to impact on a game so far, let alone a CL match. May even be sold.
Son - disappointed so far, did well in Germany, but needs more time. Needs to stop falling over and running into people.
    GKN - absolutely no idea!
Onomah - yet to see the hype, personally. Also another youngster who needs time, not pressure.

Those 4 are a mixed bag of either uninspiring options, or unknown entities IMO, which is risky going into a season that's going to be harder than the previous one.

We may now have a superstar in GKN. Maybe he's the one to provide the pace we lack. Who knows?

But more importantly, someone else who can pull the strings centrally, as well as be strong in possession of the ball, is a must for me. In fact i'd go as far as to say it's as important as needing NEW STRIKER this time last year. Simply becuase we're just so inept without Dembele. - The stats speak for themselves.

    Since Oct 2015 -
    With Dembele: 23PL games - 53 points, 2.3PPG.
    W/out Dembele:10PL games - 9 points, 0.9PPG.

I've been impressed with what little I've seen of Hakan Calhanoglu, but I haven't seen a great deal. He seems strong on the ball and has similarities to Dembele, but scores some goals. He's also a set piece specialist. Bearing in mind how ****e our corners are, he should be signed for that reason alone. <laugh>

He comes with a decent record too. 95 games for Leverkusen, 21 goals and 20 assists.

Others have mentioned Tielemens and several others, but I have literally seen nothing to comment.

Hakan is a realistic target though.

What's frustrating, is that we'd happily overlook someone like this, but be happy to spunk £18m on Zaha, who is proven premier league dross.

Good post mate, I agree with most, just a few little snippets.

Winks I'd say is ahead of Carroll now in the CM pecking order when it comes to a second XI and I'm happy with that, think he's a great young player.
Onomah I think is a super talent but needs more than just 10-15 min cameos and also needs to be stuck in the middle, not on the right, he's not a winger.
Dembele cover would be a dream but I legitimately don't see a single soul out there that offers anything remotely similar to what he does, I think what we need to do is work on a system that doesn't involve him although in fairness we've really not been that bad without him this season, we came alive in the second half vs Everton, dominated Palace despite the scoreline not showing so and then drew with a good Pool side, if some of our more attacking players upped their levels (Eriksen, Alli, Kane) then chances are we'd look a lot better in his absence, we've also fluffed some golden chances to score, had they gone in, Dembele's loss would be less spoken of.
Hakan looks quality from the bits I've seen too but he plays in a more advanced role than Dembele doesn't he? So I don't think he'd be challenging him if he joined, it'd be one of the three.

I'd take Zaha to be fair but never at £18m, he's barely just about a £10m player. We're mad if we spend big on him instead of using it elsewhere on a better player.

It won't make a difference, Spurs is where set pieces go to die.

on SSN right now, we've rejected a bid from Wolfsburg for Son.

Sky are saying that he won't be sold in this window.

I was going to say, speaking of tired clickbait. Wildly erratic winger who's 27 and never really accomplished anything + 32 million fee = Levy dying of laughter. Of the bunch of speed dribblers we've been linked with, I like N'Koudou, actually. He's the youngest and the likeliest to score. The thing is, while others worry we may not be bringing anyone else in, I worry we may not bring him in, somehow...

I doubt it's a coincidence that Carroll, Onomah and Winks are the three reserve mids from last year who most consistently looked like they were doing what they were supposed to be doing.
