Have to say Love came on and played as defensive midfielder on Saturday and did OK. Only for 15 minutes when Gooch ran out of steam though but still did OK. This is why I like players to be given time to adapt and settle into the system and the club. Big move for 21 year old lads who've never lived outside Manchester in their adult lives!!

This thread is brimming with Man U jealousy.

As if team is going to sign a youngster just because he played for Man U with no other basis. Give the sport some credit. If folk actually think the game works that primitively then it's a sad stated of affairs.

People just seem to flippantly simplify football to such a basic level it's quite scary how some people think it works.

Man U have pumped out a lot of professional footballers of various levels, from ones who win Champions Leagues to those who play 3rd and 4th tiers and everything in between. Some really talented, some not so much. Some we've all heard of some a lot of United fans won't have heard of. With such a wide spectrum it's going to take a little bit more then who they played for to make a move on a Man U youth player. Clubs will go through the same scouting and recruitment procedure they'd go through with any player.

Simply my opinion. In over watching football now for over 50 years I have have developed my own view, and in my humble opinion, with of these players.......so far......are rank average. As I have said on a previous post, they are young and haven't actually cost us much, but again (in my opinion) they shouldn't be anywhere near the first team.

I agree with this apart from this part.

Of course you're entitled to think what you want of them, they're your players now, I just hope they play well for you, I always like to see our academy products do well.

You'll be happy of course to be getting your nose rubbed in it, if they both or maybe just one of them turns out to be very good for you, I assume.

I will be delighted if that happens. As with all of our players, they will have my full support, But, I reiterate, right now, I think they would struggle to hold down a 1st team place in a championship side. But time is on their side, fingers crossed they make it.

Getting back on topic, I am really struggling to understand why we continue to ship out players when we have no one through the door. If Sky are correct in saying that both the Iborra and Mason deals are off, why have we let Lens leave on loan???

    I just don't get it <doh>

it defies belief Dorset, If even 50% of what we read is true, our club is ran so bad. But there is still time, i'm sure these are the only players that have been known to the journo's .....at least I hope that is the case.

As you say we are going on first impressions, as far as Love is concerned we already have a right back, head and shoulders above him in our current youth team, no pun intended. It will be interesting to see who gets the chances and who does not, I know what I think, its a safe bet it wont be on merit.

Could be that he had a disruptive influence in the dressing room judging by some of the negative comments he has been making in the press. Another one off the wage bill I suppose, but we are painfully short of players now.

The club must have other irons in the fire to sanction Lens move to Turkey.

At least I hope that is the case!

Took the club long enough to confirm it was only a loan.

Give me an example of another premier league team who make so much money from rejects from the academy system? Smaller clubs in the premier league and certainly championship clubs flock around Man Utd's academy like flies round a cows arse. Man Utd make a fortune from players who basically no one outside of Carrington has ever heard of. For smaller clubs to sign someone from "Man Utd" means instant but short term coverage. I don't know of any other club who does this so well, then again, any player with Man Utd on his CV will have a better chance than most. Think of that ball bag Robbie Savage. A grade one prick with limited ability, If he was a junior with say, Burnley, no way would he have made the career he did. He has lived off the tag "Former Man Utd player" all his career.

<laugh> Here come the conspiracy theories.

Just because you haven't heard of these players, you believe nobody else has?

But they haven't - Love was 18 when he moved to United and went to Wigan on loan. McNair was 16 when he moved to United. Not sure which biit you disagree with though! ("Big move" - suppose I only said that because it was a move to get them cxloser to the first team football)

What the hell are you talking about....this is football not 9/11. I am being general here, the majority of these guys are not household names...yet they command huge fees. If you actually took the time to read what i am saying, I am praising Man Utd for the great job they are doing with this conveyor belt of young players. They really are making some serious money either direct or via sell on clauses. I am struggling to see what I am saying wrong here.

Chelsea, like man u they produce an insane amount of youngsters.

Picture this. You want to send your scout out to find you a cheap academy product to improve say your second tier squad. Do you send your Scout to watch Rochdale youths knowing the category status has limited their recruitment radius, have limited facilities and coach just good enough for their budget, knowing 99% of their player won't make it as a professional? Or do you send them to Man U, with Category 1 status who have the pick of players from all around the world, top class facilities and coaches where you know nearly 99% of the players on show will make it professional to a variation of different levels. Where do you go? To Man U of course, I know the better use of my scouting budget is to send my scout to where there's a bigger pool of player to view and scout. They go to the top clubs because that's where the talent is. Not because it's Man U. Slagging off a very successful youth system and simplifying it's success to the name of club instead of all the investment and hard work that has been put in smacks of jealousy to me either that or you're not giving it enough thought. That's youth system has played a massive part in developing the name so how can the name be making the academy?

But you're claiming the players are given a boost just by having a name behind them. We only pick up good players mate, we don't take in **** then peddle it out for millions of pounds just 'cos they're United graduates.

Usually it's the other way round, we sold Michael Keane to Burnley for £2m and they value him at £20m now. Evans to WBA for £5m and they quoted Arsenal £25m. Drinkwater went for peanuts, £25m now. Heaton, peanuts, Pogba peanuts... the list goes on. If anything we're not charging enough!

Chelsea don't produce young players and sell on anywhere near what Man Utd do.... absolute fact.

So..rather than pick Rochdale, why not chose say....Sunderland or Middlesbrough who have state of the art academies, have the pick of the best talent in our region. Of course clubs like Stoke, Palace, Reading will not sniff around youngsters from Rochdale..but why not Sunderland or Boro.......Simply because to get someone from Man Utd has much more credibility. Always has had and always will have. I am certainly not jealous of Man Utd and to say I have not thought this through is somewhat condescending, its my opinion, your analogy of using Rochdale tells me you have not thought through this debate. As I have said to TEL....I am praising MUFC for making this such a lucrative conveyor belt of talent they make so much money from.
