Sporting Lisbon have issued a statement saying Adrien Silva is NOT for sale and will not be leaving for Leicester. That's good news as far as I'm concerned. If we were prepared to let him go to another PL club without moving heaven and earth to tempt him to Spurs, then our transfer window is over. If he's not for sale, maybe, just maybe, we are out there trying to bolster the squad?

My money's still on a very late failed attempt to sign someone who isn't coming (see Moutinho/Berahino/No-Signio) and at best we complete (T')Pau Lopez and maybe Scrodinger's Winger. Come on Spurs, prove this old cynic wrong!

It's like a script. At about 3pm tomorrow SSN will break the news of us being in talks with a big name player who we won't end up signing due to failing to reach an agreement. - but it'll look like levy tried. Same old story.

Rumours that Tom Carroll is the subject of interest from Derby. Nobody could wish anything but the best for Tom but if Mason, Bentaleb and Pritchard's time is up, then Tom's is overdue. Go and play some football, Son. You have talent, go and enjoy it.

If the rumours about Son are true and N'Jie leaves, that would leave us with Schrodinger's winger (maybe?) and Marcus Edwards as back-up to our 3 behind the striker. So, an unfit, untested in the PL, young man and a very talented 17 year old? We're approaching Fraser 'Bloody' Campbell time. If anyone at the club accepts that this is it and it's OK, then expect departures next summer, lads, because we're ****ed!

Son, Njie and Mason will not leave without someone coming in per player imo.
Chadli and Pritchard were allowed to go cos the were only ever going to be subs under Pochettino and we got excellent money for them. Carroll may go for the same reason. But if any of the three I named were allowed to leave with no replacement we would be leaving the squad thin imo.

What's everyone's thoughts on making a cheeky loan bid for Wilshere - then leaving him on the bench for every single Premier League game and only giving him minutes against lower league opponents in the cups?

It always seems that at any time, if the transfer balance is zero, Levy will not
sanction signing more until players are sold. So as soon as Wanyama and
Janssen were signed, there needs to be a corresponding clear-out to reset the balance.

And of course, the last reset always comes too close to transfer deadline day to
do anything special on the final signings.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it was @Spurm who pointed this out yesterday, and stated that we still need to make up about £9m? Not sure if that was before or after the confirmed sale of Chadli, though.

If it's the figure after Chadli, the sale of Mason for approx £8-10m makes sense and therefore balances the books.

IF there's any truth to the Isco rumours, the fact that it's supposedly a loan would make sense.

Therefore, only the sale of Son for a rumoured £24m would allow us to secure another 1 or 2 IMO. - but I cannot see that happening. What another shambolic bit of "1 year" business that would prove to be again, becoming the latest addition to club Stambouli. Wont happen, surely?

On the basis that Jack would have to make himself useful, perhaps he could clean Levy's pool and remove the barnacles from Lewis's second best yacht?

This does seem to be the pattern, doesn't it.
We were probably very lucky that VDV did not cost 5m more at the time.

A quick check on transferleague suggests 2010 was the last season Spurs had
had a net spend figure, and the Chadli sale does indeed nearly reset the balance
    for this window.

I didn't put it like that, but yeah. If Son goes the money is there for a big (for Spurs) signing. Otherwise we've probably only got £5-9m if all the others leave

Son went on record yesterday to say that he isn't aware of any concrete interest and that as far as he is concerned he is a Spurs player. It was generally a positive soundbite, although I did get a bit worried at the end when he said "it is nice to know that in Germany I am appreciated". A sly dig at Poch perhaps? A subtle hint saying play me or I'm gone faster than you can say Juan Pablo Gonzalez Velasco?

We need to stop playing Russian roulette this close to the end of the window. The little clubs can't be bullied anymore as they are financially secure enough to walk away from everything but the most enticing offers - which we are never going to pay.

I'd like us to bring him in and then put him to work on the stadium construction site without any prior training or a hard hat. Make him climb to the top of one of those cranes barefoot in mid December.

It's so true. Levy's old tactic is dated.
You've only got to look at Villa, yes Villa, who have made a £20m bid for Hull's Abel Hernandez. Says it all really.

The last minute signing has really had its day. Clubs tend to be better run these days and have plans that they have discussed and agreed upon. Some clubs write these things down and everything. Well, some of them do or so I'm told.

If anything, the only way window roulette actually works is with clubs who have quality players that are deemed surplus to requirements - as happened with us and VDV.

For a few seasons this was possible due to FFP rules, as demonstrated by the likes of Ozil, Sanchez and Di maria heading to the Premier League to help Los Ladrones and Barca meet their FFP requirements - but since FFP has been consigned to the scrapheap the chances of such a deal being possible have gone.

So what would be the rationale for Isco ??
I assume he is not on big wages by PL standards, so Spurs can pay his loan wages etc.

OK guys, my Isco love-in is being temporary suspended for the moment, time for a bit of real talk!

What would you all deem to be a good and successful window come tomorrow night at the close of it all?

The likeliest scenario I'd say is Nkoudou and Lopez coming in with no departures other than Mason. Would you be happy with that?

If not, why and who do you want in? (specific names please and not just a "we need a CM/ AM/ GK/ CB etc").

EDIT: Nkoudou coming in for N'Jie that is.
