I watched an interesting programme about the chances of finding intelligent life that could be contacted over the vast distances of space. It pointed out all the gadzillion lucky breaks that resulted in life on Earth even coming into being and the fact that most life has been wiped out on a couple of occasions (at least) and had to start virtually from scratch again. Also took into account that after all the millions of years the Earth has been in existence, we have only radiated information into space since the 20th century. And the final major thing to consider is that no one knows how long a civilisation will last after it moves into the galloping technological era. The suggestion was that there may only be a tiny window of opportunity when 2 civilisations are at a similar level of development. The conclusion was that the chance of this happening is practically zilch.

I'm disappointed that no one has sussed out the 17 year old Welshman from 2007 that lived in Southampton (from aged 8 I believe) made a move to London later that year and then onto Madrid.....[emoji6]
lol yep, can't believe she did that, but I suppose she is happily married now, I have a Grandson and she lives with a nice guy in Atlanta, so it all worked out well in the end....Though there were moments that I 'reminded' her what happened....

I know bikes can be annoying because they are slow and can take up the road, but they have every right to be there. This woman has serious anger issues and that could make her dangerous on the road.
What I've never understood is why, with so much congestion on city roads, cyclists are encouraged to spread out across the entire width of the lane, when waiting at traffic lights. All this does is to slow the movement of cars down to the speed of the slowest cyclist, causing more congestion.

Chris Brown is reportedly in a stand-off with Los Angeles SWAT following allegations that he pulled a gun on a woman. TMZ reports that the troubled R&B singer is holed up inside his Los Angeles home. Police arrived at the scene around 3:00 a.m. local time, but have yet to enter Brown’s home as they wait for a search warrant. At one point, Brown threw a duffel bag out of a window. The duffel bag contained “at least one gun, other weapons and drugs,” according to police. Brown has apparently taunted the police, telling them to “Come and get me.” He’s also posted a series of videos to Instagram in which he says “**** the police” and maintains that police won’t find anything if they search his home. Details of the alleged incident involving Brown and the woman are not clear. What we do know, however, per TMZ, is that Brown was holding a small gathering at his house when two uninvited females showed up. After they refused to leave, Brown allegedly pulled a gun. One of the women contacted police.
The encouragement is get people out of the car and to use bicycles themselves when they can. Also, if cyclists aren't allocated sufficient room car drivers are quite likely to plough into them because of the difference in relative capable speeds. Trust me on this. I am a cyclist, a car driver, a large vehicle driver, and a motorcyclist as well, so I see the situation from several perspectives. Incidentally, my motorcycle has a huge advantage over the bicycle. I can use its horsepower to get away from trouble. It means I effectively need less room than a cyclist.
