Yes, and I wonder if the reason Whittaker was given the extra year was because the club expected Brady to leave (and he might still do do) and that gave us more cover at left back.
Re Maddison, I'd like to see a bit of him too but as I mentioned earlier, we've got 10 players for 3 attacking midfield places, so fierce competition.

I'm hoping Maddison gets a game tomorrow night, Godfrey too.

Oh, yes, the U23 team for the cup competition........yes, I'd think so, along with Toffolo and Morris and the Murphys.

I'd be really pissed off. Whittaker can't play RB. You can't now expect him to try and play LB!!

Few random names (based on players who might struggle to get a game at their club).

    Sam Vokes?
    Connor Wickham?
    Leonardo Ulloa?
    David Nugent?
    Charlie Austin?
    Jon Walters?
    Peter Crouch?
    Duncan Watmore?
    Rickie Lambert?

Saturday was awful, but not enough emphasis has been made on the 7 injuries we have at the moment (Jarvis, Ruddy, Pinto, Olsson, Jerome, Dorrans and Pritchard) - the first 5 of which would normally be in the starting line-up. The plus side of that is that Canos and the Murphys have been getting chances, but at a cost as well. Of those, only Jacob seems able to perform effectively so far. The others may not be far away, as the Coventry cup game showed, but the league is a much bigger step up. Hopefully, Pinto, Olsson, Jerome, Dorrans and Pritchard will be fit again for Cardiff and we will have new players in as well and integrated into the squad before the Cardiff game at home.

Of that list, Jon Walters would be my choice.

And of course we did have an attempt at him last season.

Diego Rolan of Bordeaux is a new name on our scene. Apparently we watched him this weekend when he scored the only goal of the game. He is available for the right price but wants first team football putting off both Man U and Bayern who were also watching, along with Brighton.

We're not likely to get any player if a PL club is after them!

Yes Dorset, it is a real problem and I can see some going out on loan, but AN has stated that neither Madddison or the Murphys will be going on loan this season, so let's hope he keeps his word on that one!!!

I don't know about other people, but although I came off the fence on Saturday and now have the view that Norwich and AN would be better to part ways. My view is certainly not based on Saturdays result or our current position in the table or our lack of a striker signing. I won't go over all the reasons for my views again in this post, but the generals comment that the last few weeks have been 'the straw that broke the camels back' is fair. I said at the end of last season that I would be looking at the start of this season to see if AN can demonstrate that he has learnt, what I consider were the lessons to be learnt from last season. Unfortunately I have seen very little since the start of this season to indicate that he has, further signings this window nor a couple of good results will change that. I think for you to suggest that I and others loss of faith in AN is a knee jerk reaction is disingenuous, but I wouldn't say that you've been rude and generally enjoy reading you're posts, although I don't always agree with your views. I do however find comments about how long some other posters have been supporting Norwich to be irrelevant to any discussion about our current plight.

I think that's a bit unfair on Canos, he's played well when he's come on as a sub and very well in the Coventry game. Yes he wasn't great at Birmingham, but he was no worse than the rest of the team. I think if Canos is handled right he could turn out to be a fantastic buy for us, but it is early days. I'm not sure what's going to happen in midfield, if everyone is fit, I can see there been issues with players as we are currently over loaded with AM players.

Totally agree carrow and I really think it's what has swayed a lot of posters.

For me to change my mind, he's firstly GOT to drop Naismith to the bench at least and if Olsson isn't fit for the Cardiff game, then play Tofollo at LB and allow Brady (if he's still here) to play further forward and provide cover for Tofollo. Also if Pinto hasn't recovered, martin by then should be fully fit, so he can play at RB and forget ANY notions of him covering at CB!!!!

Another excellent post and I hope Canos will get another chance and as I said in a post earlier, I'm sure some of the AM players must go on loan with a recall clause to get game time.

I think Canos will progress, but we need to remember that he's only 19, so there'll be ups and downs as there were with Redmond when he first came. He was also playing on the left rather than his preferred right. Jacob has been the most consistent performer among the youffs, and was one of our better players against Brum. I seem to recall that Josh was shifted to striker when Mulumbu came on at Ipswich and I wonder if AN sees potential in that, given that the Official site lists him as both AM and striker. I also see the AM situation a bit differently, in that many of the players can play in more than one position and during games there is a lot more movement behind the striker, which is good. I'd say we have 7 senior players for 3/4 positions, as well as Howson who can play WR if needed. I also feel that we made a good start to the season in the first 4 games and then had an off day against Brum. Much will depend on the Cardiff game now.
