If you look at who M'Vila's agent manages, there's not a lot going on for them at the moment, unless they're trying to find Sakho a new club after Klopp binned him off. Maybe they're encouraging the lad to dig his heels in and take a bigger cheque in a few months time.
Generally speaking if the players have similar attributes ie height, mobility, positional awareness etc, I see no reason why they cant play in both positions. Hoff who joined supposedly as a CD has excelled as a CDM. I am sure their are others, but cant think of any off the top of my head, but lots of players have played in two positions down the years and have usually settled in one or the other, but for 20 minutes or so, which is what we were originally talking about, surely it is not beyond reason replace one out of position CB with another.. Perhaps as you are so well versed with knowledge on this subject, you could enlighten me as to why it was nonsense to suggest it.

After the latest developments, Sams team is in the process of imploding and it is more likely that others will leave than M'Vila returns imo. Moyes and Sam are very different characters and we will never know what would be happening now at Sunderland if England had made a decent fist of the Euro,s, talk about a butterfly flapping its wings, we witnessed an owl loosing the plot and the consequences that followed have so far been the stuff of nightmares.
Just thought I would resurrect this in view of DM's recent statement about what Kazan were asking for was ridiculous for a player with only six months left on contract.
Is there much likelihood that Kazan would drop the asking price at the last minute, as in by tomorrow?
In their own best interest to get the 5m that has been bandied about than pay him for the next four months.
It is but we seem dead against paying it. The worry is that if we don't, another club with an eye on the situation will swoop in at the last second and take him from under our penny pinching noses.
I think we'll get him for about 2 and a half million, on the last day. Kazan won't pay his wages for months and then watch him **** off for free.
In his last two interview DM has gone from saying it was complicated, to the latest about what they are asking for him with only the six months to go. I think he will be ours eventually and having seen Everton off over Kone I do not think we are the ones quibbling about paying, just their asking price. They will be the biggest losers.
I know where he's coming from. But if Bournemouth for example snap him up for the asking price and he goes on to have a long and successful career with them then I'm going to be bitter as **** about it.
I understand the 6 months bit, but he's worth £6m imo. Who else would we get with the same quality as M'Vila for £6m?
I'm with the club on this one, mate. I can totally understand why they don't want to be paying up to 6m for a player, we can walk away with for free, in January. The way M'Vila is playing this, makes me think he's happy to sit there until January before he signs for us, if that's what he has to do. I reckon the club know this as well. If we can get Iborra and another midfielder in, then we don't even need M'Vila immediately and we will be able to relax and sweep him up for free in January.
DM said he would try and get a better value player than M'Villa when he first came so maybe the asking price is alot higher than £6K - but I'd be very peeved if we lost out to a rival premiership club
