Didn't know that, spent a lot of time in that area years ago in Methwold and Southery.

So taking our Team from being virtually outside the promotion race to 3rd place in the league and then promotion is not an achievement?

How can you know that it is dithering? Couldn't it be that our targets got better offers or are waiting for better offers? Couldn't it be that our targets only want a move to the Premiership especially as a clutch of Premiership Clubs are also desperate to sign strikers? We do not know how many players have been approached but rather than accept the realities of the problems facing all Clubs in this transfer window isn't it a lot easier to just blame the Board, the Chief Executive and the Manager? We went down last year because injuries to Tettey and Klose resulted in approx 2 preventable goals being conceded every game but it is easier to blame Naismith for not scoring 3 goals every game to rectify the problem. Do you seriously believe that at the start of the window Benitez considered paying £3m for a 33 year old back up squad striker? It just shows yet again how difficult the market has become.

Do you really think 3M for Murphy was a stupid deal?

I honestly don't. I think it's really good business. He is such a pain to play against and he's a goalscorer in this league. It's not a signing for the future, it's a signing to get promotion, and you know the money available in that.

In the market now, 3M for an experienced, hardworking striker who knows how to score. I think it's smart business. I know he's 33, but he doesn't show it. He's a fit lad, and he panicked our defence this season.

Do you honestly think that, or because he's a scummer, and Newcastle (our rivals) are making the signings they need?

I'm not being confrontational. I'm just giving my opinion. I think for 3M they have added a very decent option to their already decent attack.

If he really is a donkey, then we need to sign a complete new back 4. Coz a donkey made them wet their pants and throw their hands in the air in surrender. A lot of the time it was as if the back 4 were screaming "EWWWWW......KICK AT IT" with their eyes closed.

Clearly the Nukes value him as a £3m donkey.

I consider him a £3m pain in the ass who will cause most Championship defenders a whole lot of bother this season.

Totally. You need that in this league, and Benitez knows that. Ipswich were in and around the playoffs because how he plays. They don't have many star men, but he was one, and they were always close.

    He does something right.

Those supporting Murphy are missing the point. If a 33yo nuisance who has scored well in only one season in 10 is worth £3m then a 25yo hardworking nuisance guaranteed to score 20/25 goals a year - which is what most of you are expecting us to sign - is quite clearly out of our price range. That is the market we are faced with.

Usually I agree with a lot you say. Today, I feel you are being more defensive than articulate. I still agree with many things you said today. But in the same way you are too defensive, is the way you are calling posters idiots for being slightly the the other way. Fans are concerned, worried, and expressing it on a forum to vent that. If they seem a little over the top negative, it's probably passion and trying to make sure the point is across they feel negatively against AN.

You are the same today, but the other way. In the way you say "but can't you see this positive" they could say to you "but can't you see this negative?"

I know some people have gone over the top, and I am not a AN out person yet. I'm unhappy with the teams performance most of last season. Apart from Blackburn and Coventry, I think the other games have been seriously worrying. The massive, massive struggle yet again we have had with getting our targets in is very worrying. I know you say "this is the market we are in, we can't compete" is half true. But we couldn't compete when we were in the Premiership. When are we going to spend the money?!

Now, we are one of the big fish, and still Clubs who have been Championship for so long, and signing really good players. There has been a lot of really really intelligent signings in this league. So far, I'd say Pritchard for us, in the long run will be one of those. Everyone's mad about Canos at the moment, I think we need to wait a bit longer. He's been very good, and non existent. I reserve judgement, but he looks very promising. At the moment, the only signing I think feels important is Pritchard. And we are one of the sides just relegated with all that parachute money.

I'm worried and disapointed. I haven't given up.

Murphy's only prolific season was him playing target man to Mick's hoofball!

Do you really see Benitez playing to his strengths?

Never said he would be his main Striker. I said he was a dangerous and cheap attacking option.

We hoof it to our 1 and only striker Jerome when we panic.

Newcastle have a pick of 4 class strikers, all with different strengths.

If Murphy hadn't come from Ipswich, say he came straight from Celtic now. I think you would have a slightly different view.

(by the way, I'm not just saying all this to kick stuff off. You have also come in very assertive. All this is just my opinion, and I'm not trying to stir at all. It's really hard to tell inflection on txt. Hard to tell how you and 1950 are presenting your posts.)

I'm not trying to provoke an argument. Just posting my view.
