This is very disappointing. He's definitely one of our better players and he's looked more interested this season in his brief appearances.

Just hope the fact he is leaving indicates we have many irons in the fire on the incoming front!

You'd hope wouldn't you? But surely its going to cost more to get a player of his quality in than it is to just hang on to the ones we've got

Might be putting 2+2 together here and getting 5 but with Moyes being such a big fan of RVP I wonder if he's gonna come the other way, on loan.

We are apparently getting Iborra for 7 million, mate.

He's a better player than Lens. There's still value out there, but it's just finding it. With so little left of the transfer window, we can only assume somebody is lined up.

I expect quite a bit of movement over these next few days...

It's been doing the rounds for about 7-10 days now. I think there's definitely something in this one.

Isn't Advocaat the manager over there, as well?

I see what you're saying but we've got a decent a player in Lens who knows the club, the manager, and his teammates and it just seems that wheeling and dealing is a bit of a false economy when any new player is going to need that acclimatisation period before he's playing to his full potential.
Unless whoever comes in is a massive, massive improvement on Lens. But is that realistic? I don't know..

I agree with that, and it does seem a shame that he is leaving when he seems to be finally putting in decent performances. If his heart isn't in it though, and deep down he doesn't really want to be here...

I genuinely cannot remember a time when our club was so short of players, as a result of transfers out, players who want out and injuries. very worrying. What makes matters a little more disturbing is the likes of McNair and Love coming in, I do hope Moyes will pull some master stroke before the deadline ends

Without wanting to add to the doom, Moyes spent an entire summer here chasing Fabregas and Herrera who both told him to ram it then he ended up buying Fellaini for £2m more than his release fee. <laugh>

I've found the transfer policy so far to be quite odd but its impossible to assess its effectiveness until the window closes. Even then, there are no guarantees that it will have gone to plan and we may never find out if that was the case or not. As I believe has been discussed on another thread Love and McNair were signed for their potential rather than their suitability to go straight into the first team- give them time, they may become legends.
At the moment, the strategy looks anarchic but, as you say, it might look different after the next couple of days.

Jeremain Lens makes off season on loan at Fenerbahçe. This confirms the 28-year-old striker to FOX Sports.
"Tomorrow I will undergo the medical examination," said Lens. "I do not expect any problems. I'm looking forward to it. It's a nice transfer. Fenerbahçe is a great club and a great challenge."

Lens, 31-time international, the Turkish club is reunited with Dick Advocaat, the coach with whom he previously worked at PSV and - his current employer - Sunderland. "I have a good relationship with Dick, but he also knows my qualities. It is not that he is doing me a favor."

39 - Jeremain Lens has been involved in 39 goals (22 goals 17 assists) in 56 league games under Dick Advocaat (AZ, PSV & Sunderland). Bloom.

    Lawyer
After the departure of attorney and the arrival of Sam Allardyce, now coach of the English team, it went downhill with Lens. At the Black Cats he had been since the beginning of this calendar year often does not even select more players.

"I did not play, was not even on the bench," said Lens. "I just had a problem with the club. What? No idea. Sunderland would just love to get rid of me."

Allardyce, the coach that the attacker barely used, was replaced by David Moyes. But that changed nothing Lens' situation. "Though there were ten other trainers come, then I should have been gone."

    Orange
Lens thinks this step again to come into play for the Dutch national team.On October 13, 2015 he was still last in action in the Orange-shirt during the 2-3 loss Championship qualifier against the Czech Republic.

"This is perhaps for the purpose of Orange also again a good step", Lens explains. "I go to Fenerbahce if the property is getting more playing time. I did not find it strange that I was missing the last couple of times in the selections (Danny Blind, ed.). It was understandable because I was not playing."

His new club comes against Feyenoord in the group stage of the Europa League. "Fun. It's been that I've played against a Dutch club a while ago."(FOX Sports)

Translation is dodgy but I think he's saying he has no problem with Sunderland, they just want rid of him.

Seems odd to me that. I know there's the stuff about his workrate but that hasn't been evident when he's come on this season as far as I can see.
