Jeez. "I've got one art o level it did nothing for me...." Jeez. Hat, coat. To the Ryan Mason's Arms, for a stiff dram of Anguished Embarrassment.
I am constantly embarrassed by hitting post button without checking what my iPad has decided what Iwant to post is not what I Intended to.
Masons Arms in York???? Do you think its getting worse Castro? I do. That apple lot are definitely up to something.
Anyone who thinks the council will do owt, do owt for Hull City AFC, do owt that doesn't personally benefit themselves or do owt for the people of Hull is frankly deluded. I just wonder how long it'll be before the Dai's hit that particular brick wall, then people will turn on them.
I actually think the buyers - who seem to love football but at heart are developers - will have already sounded out the council on this. That is the key to their involvement. There was some sort of positive statement made by the council some 2 or 3 weeks back about "just speak to us, we are here to listen" kind of message which with hindsight may be the start of a more public positioning (agreeing a sale later down the line and preparing the media ground now). Just a thought. After an 8.2% Belgian Trappist ale last night I posted a question the length of a Sunday sermon about whether this is good. I don't know.
The ideal scenario would be the council to sell the KC to City for less than market value on the provision they pay a set amount to Hull FC to buy them out of their lease. Hull FC are then given the land at Costello for free and fund the a new stadium using the contribution from City and their own money. Langtree Park cost £25 million so thats quite possible. Everyones a winner, City get a ready built stadium and the valuable land surrounding it for a good price and Hull FC get their own stadium and a significant contribution to the cost of building it.
The buyers are business people, this romantic notion of them having a love of football has no foundation in fact. Nor has the assumption that they have spoken to HCC about anything. Just because someone buys a football club, does not make them love the game. (As we have seen before) HCC want to get rid of the Stadium, they want to partner a development on the site. Their public statement actually could be seen that they have not had any approach from the new buyers. The key to their involvement is that we are a Premier League club that is relatively cheap to buy. For the first time in many years football at Premier League levels can make a profit and can give a return. Meanwhile the commercial property sector is stagnant. High Streets are dying and the only real development market is in housing. The key figures made their money in development in China, now they need to invest some of that money in other projects. The fashionable markets for investment at the moment are in football clubs and cannabis farms in the USA.
Indeed. The people who think we've been bought by a couple who love football, and have bought us for our footballing heritage are bonkers. These are business people who've seen an opportunity to make money, nothing more, nothing less. HCC were happy to talk to the Allams also, sort of. HCC are not as clever nor as astute as they think they are, they're blinded by the perceived popularity they seem to hold in their jobs for life with almost no accountability. Splitting away from FC, having our own ground, whilst great aspirations, will not happen without a massive change in the makeup of the council. Who obviously won't be at fault for any of the failings.
I think the council would bend over backwards to help FC if they wanted to split away, they certainly helped Rovers out with their ground. The main stumbling block would be funding a new stadium for FC, they have no desire to spend millions when they already have an assured contract as tenants of the best stadium in super league. There would have to be some financial incentive for them to move, otherwise they'd rightly stay put and could potentially cause problems, even challenge the sale all together.
FC? None. It's as good a ground as they're capable of being able to claim as home, and makes them feel bigger than they are. Hull City? Bigger ground, better condition, better facilities all round. It won't suit FC, which is why the HCC will appear to pay lip service while doing what they usually do.
In order to get the crowds that some aspire to, we would have to move cities rather than a new stadium. There is no reason why we should not have 30-35k in the future, but whilst we yo - yo up and down we will not get the numbers in. If with investment we can stabilise in the middle of the pack and maybe once in a while get into Europe, we may see a need to develop, but a smaller stadium selling out at a premium has to be better than a half empty one. Any development in the next couple of years will be limited to making the footfall around the stadium increase when it is not a matchday
Totally agree I think the iPad is speaking in pigeon English for me sometimes . My last two messages took longer to correct ,and by correcting the spelling the grammar goes to pot , somehow .
Why does Fc moving out make those things more likely? Or why does FC staying make those things less likely? I'm not being a troll here - I genuinely don't get it.
Why should FC be given land 'for free' ? HCC wouldn't give Assem Allam anything for free so why should the eggchasers be any different ? I can see HCC wanting to sell the KC. I can see the cash, if sold, being used to build the 'Hull Venue' and to build a new stadium for fc, possibly at Costello which is currently a loss maker for them. But they cannot give anything away for free. Which would mean fc would pay HCC rent and the stadium would be a multi use venue, as Costello is today. It would also pacify the flat caps who would oppose any sale of the kc to Hull City but welcome it if it were the rugby lot who were wanting to buy. 'Its the people's stadium don't you know'.
Because fc do not pay for anything at the kc. Who do you think paid for the pitch to be re-laid, the new floodlights, the new turnstiles, the new press facilities, the new advertising boards etc etc etc ? Not fc. Fc pay a set rent which doesn't earn HCC a bean. Everything else is paid for by the SMC which is basically Hull City. Hull City would be better off owning their own stadium and running it for themselves. And it could be bought for the price of one Premier League player. It's a no brainer. Especially if those wanting to buy are billionaires and those wanting to sell are penniless.
