the biggest shame is our own home grown young talent is being **** on again, would rather we gave Lees and White the chance they both deserve. nothing against Odea, but not convinced he's better than we already have. panic signing i guess, what i've read he's ok in centre half, but **** at LB. I'd rather stick with what we have.
Bannan was managed poorly! The player himself was quality, if not a tad small!! If kilkenny had been ****ed clean off, and Bannan played regular 90mins, we'd have had a playoff spot imo!!!
Judging by his CV, he sounds like a promising young player who's not quite forced his way into favour at Celtic and lost his way a bit out on problematic loans. Good experience, including Champions League and caps for Ireland. Signing him up for a season when we have centre backs with doubts over fitness sounds like a good move to me.

i'd rather we used our current squad, and use the money to secure a new contract with Gradel. if its decided our current players arent good enough, sell them on before we bring in more players in the same position. now at CB we have; O'B, Kissa, Bruce, Lees, Bromby LB we have, Parker, White, Bessone RB, Connolly The only position we need cover for is at RB, and the sensible answer is to re sign Lichaj, who can also cover out of his natural position at LB.
White's not a left back!!! Parker is crap and Bessone will never play for us again IMO. I think someone else will come in as left back and O'Dea is coming in to cover for the departure of either Bruce or Bromby.
Bessone got injured and missed his chance at ever playing for us again. He was hoping to feature in pre season, and I expect he probably would have had he not been injured. No point excluding a player you're paying from pre season. But that's gone now, he won't play for us again.
plus Lichaj may have been approached, turned us down, or broke through into their 1st team based on last season!
it was all but confirmed that work had been put into getting him. Odds are Villa turned us down before Lichaj had chance to, I'm guessing he'll be part of their first team this season.
Simon,I don't know why you keep saying White's not a left back! That's exactly what he is,& a decent one at that. Ok so he's also played RM,but he's primarily a LB. Leave him there. I don't go along with all this square peg round hole crap. We've got Snoddy & hopefully Mendy at RM.
White should be groomed into being LB, this should have happened through out pre-season once Bessone was proved unfit and/or have been a requirement in his loan last season. he is down our the OS as being a LB. As for our defenders going such as Bruce and Bromby, i'm not sure they will, but again if Bruce goes it underlines Bates not having any confidence in Grayson in terms of spending anymoney, as Collins was a strange signing, Bruce has been hit and miss despite playing consitantly well for Leicester the season before, McCormack hasn't done himself justice yet, Kasper must have been a high earner but wasnt all that and got worse while here. Also one or 2 others and loan signing like Bannan come with big reputations but fail at Leeds. I'm not in the Grayson out brigade as most of them talk utter bollocks, but some decisions I'm just not sure about. The like of Lees and other of our youngsters were reason for being excited for the season ahead, if we sign this pair from Sheff Utd, where will it leave the like of Nunez? farmed out on loan again?
as for Parker, I'd haven given him at least six month if not a year in the reserves to see if he's up it before considering him as a 1st team player. based purely on his fitness over ability, i'm sure he would accept that too. if he managed a long period with out breaking down then maybe consider him then. as it stands we could be reiliant on him but may break down for 3 months or more after a couple of games. and no 1st team can take that chance. if Lichaj has turned us down, why havent we been linked to any RB's or even had one on trial?
LIE, he may have started out as a LB, but I think SG sees him more as LM, which is why he went out on loan to play for a club as LM.
but is LM where he is needed? even Nunez can play out there if Gradel is out, and before that Johnson. White is a capable LB, doesnt seem to have a injury curse at the moment, if O'Dea is also LB cover or even starter, it is by no means his natural position what is the point of this signing?
