Swansea City have bid for Barnsley defender Alfie Mawson accepted

    http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11713/10553079/swansea-city-have-bid-for-barnsley-defender-alfie-mawson-accepted

Not very inspiring considering last week the talk was about experienced Italian defenders being on the radar. Instead we get another youngster "with heaps of potential" but didn't Bartley have heaps of potential. Looks like he's gone for good now I think.

We need solid experience at the back right now so we can address Fede's issue whatever it is. He looks so far out of his depth right now he needs the coastguard and unless van der Hoorn comes good, and fast, we're stuck with his poor form.

I'm not impressed, still, as they say, its early doors yet.........or do they?

I think he could end up as a great one for the future, he has experience in l1 and l2. there is a big difference in that, to having to mark Aguerro or Ibraimovic. If he is a replacement for Ash, then the clubs ambition is at a low as it stands and again, doing things on the cheap. I hope we will bring in a bit of experience, but I doubt it, a good signing for the future but not for now. Typical of our club this year and 7m profit on Ash in to the yanks bank account. I am sure that HJ must have watched the last 2 defensive displays with his eyes closed, you can guarantee that Guidolin has had no say in this, will have never even heard of him and I feel sorry for him trying to do a job with one arm tied behind his back.

It's all very well saying "he's one for he future" but what future will we have if we become perennial relegation fodder ?

We're in big trouble if this is our last signing.

I'm flabbergasted we haven't signed Bony. Get him on loan now with the option to buy next season.

Me too, he's a proven goalscorer in the PL. I know it hasn't worked at Man City, but so what - it worked when he was with us. Totally shocked that we have Llorente instead of Bony, but maybe Bony is just not interested in moving to Swansea again.

I wanted that from day one, but it is not going to happen guys, we could get him for next to nothing now and would make sense. the only person who cant see it is the idiot HJ.

To be fair Stereo, I think Bony would take anywhere now to get out of Man City.

Bony is on £125,000 a week, I hardly think he would be desperate to move out of Citeh. Huw Jenkins wouldn't pay him half that wage anyway, so it's a none starter, just hope Borjo Baston has a flying start to his PL career..........<ok>

I think its our turn to get relegated unless we get a proper manager who knows what he is doing......there is no shape to us at all.....

I would love to sign a new CB , a real quality one , BUT....I think Van Der Hoorn and Fernandez ( he will come good ) will do the job ....I'm really not to enthused with Amat ........ Naughton , Fernandez , VDH and Taylor / Kingsley will form into a good defence

How much time do you think is enough before Fenandez becomes "good" , he's been with us for 3 years and still looks inept , £8 million for what , a player who can't head a ,pass a ball , defend , goes sleeping & misses chance after chance .yes he'll come good one day but not today .We got rid of a player who's twice the player that Fenandez will ever be for because of one man's vendetta .
As to the others well , Taylor peaked in our first season in the PL , Naughton hopefully will improve as should Kingsley and VDH who knows what we've bought , do you ?

Was I happy when we payed 8 ( I thought 7 ) for Fernandez , not by along shot and if I could go back......
That being said , Fernandez has played reasonably well for us in general .
I think the culture shock of the loss of Williams , basically the only CB he played with his entire Swansea career, was overwhelming for him and he's cracked under the pressure of inheriting the # 1 spot .
I think he will pull out of it and will be better , eventually , than he ever was .
I also think Amat has to be taken out of the equation and VDH or the new guy should start a series of games.
Amat and Fernandez are a bad pairing IMO , and either would be better without the other .
Fernandez must push through his fears .
