Was similar to the two '99 crashes in the BAR cars, so probably a few years before that. I'd suggest any time prior to Hakkinen's crash at Adelaide in '95 - after that was when they started protecting the head of the driver more carefully with raised cockpit sides etc. Looking at races prior to that point it's really visibly prominent just how unprotected the driver seems comparatively to now.
Yeah, I was thinking along broadly similar lines. Pre-Senna, definitely. Also, Mark Webber drinking out of Daniel Ricciardo's boot has to be the most Australian thing that's ever happened on an F1 podium.
We have this one. It's no longer on sale but the basic style (all based on the same chipset) is still being sold - £36. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00RFMGANW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Similar models: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=NT96650 Footage from it here: Despite the awful lighting conditions, you can still (if you pause it, and despite yotube having downgraded the quality of the video somewhat) read the numberplate of the car being driven by the bloke not looking at the road (at 2 mins in). It doesn't look dramatic from the angle but I had time to wonder how long I was going to have off work if he hit me. The angle fools but another coat of paint... Foolproof. Put an SD card in, plugged it into the *** lighter and it just works. Vin
Just watched that footage again and it's comically worse quality than the original footage. Youtube's downgraded it from HD to 360p and I can't find a way to avoid that. Vin
OK, this is better - watch in HD and it's closer to the quality of the original (still not quite as sharp as the raw footage, though). Vin
A reporter made some Jaffa cakes using the recipe from Great British Bake Off and tested it on her young daughter. This child is so diplomatic that she should consider working for the UN: ''I think yours are the best, Mummy....but I don't mind if you never make them again.''
Am curious whether F1 could set up the grid in reverse order of seasonal standings (as they do in some amateur racing series) and still end up with the same podium finishers most of the time. Guess you would, though with a few more incidents along the way.
I really can't be bothered with period dramas, but the young lady playing Victoria in this new series could keep me interested for a while...
See Justin Rose put his gold medal on during a golf match....he said he was going to have bragging rights for 4 years.
I managed to get away with, "Oh go on then, I don't really know much about Victoria's reign..." To the wife when she flicked it on with a question
