Yeah this is spot on I said as much earlier on this thread and even posted the same on your board a week or so ago. You won't need to worry about relegation this year, and with a few signings will probably end up comfortably midtable. Bet you lot would love a nice boring midtable season I know you were gutted to lose Sam (and rightly so) but given time I think Moyes can take you further than what he could have. The only thing that may hold you back is Short imo.
During the 1st 20 minutes i thought we looked very good.maybe it was a case of sunderland doinig a better job at closing us down and not giving us space.something changed after that 1st 20 minutes. Also, the people that were booing should maybe go and support man u instead
Sunderland not being in a relegation battle will be akin to Leicester winning the league. I'd be absolutely delighted. Yeah Short and his lack of funds is always going to stop us progressing to where we want to be. A massive positive for us at the moment, is the amount of young players coming through. Our academy is finally paying dividends, and I know that has been a huge asset to your club over the years. We have Pickford and Watmore starring for England U21's. Players like Gooch, Robson and Honeyman coming through and we have Joel Asoro, he's a 17 year old wonder kid, who is apparently being chased by Inter and PSG amongst other teams. The way your club has dealt in transfers over these last few years, especially, is something we should definitely be looking to emulate.
The transfer window slamming shut will be closure on a lot of those issues. I assume he'll be part of the Portugal squad. He can go away, get his head straight, get up to fitness and perhaps have the return he really should have had a few weeks ago. We can all move on from this silly business and focus on football
Working my way through the thread but regarding shots inside and outside the area, stats from a few years ago, courtesy of Soccernomics: 3.4% of shots outside the area result in a goal 12.4% of shots inside the area result in a goal I know which I prefer. Vin PS, inside the six yard box it's 32%, if you're interested.
Jesus just seen the Kone header what the hell was Cedric doing? we were lucky he didn't score there. And now just seen the penalty. Terrible from Fonte, no need to go to ground there.
But everyone remembers the long range goals so thinks that shooting from range is important. Also soccernomics.
Yes, the oppo always get forgotten in matches like these, to me it was a typical Saints early season home performance, plenty of possession but a lack of a cutting edge and killer ball. I'm not panicking yet.
Not sure why Cedric was marking Kone in the first place, hardly likely to win a header against him was he.
Don't think we made a sudden decision based on his goal yesterday. The fact he was on the bench suggested that we had probably changed our mind about a loan...perhaps a deal has fallen through.
Apart from the howler for jrods goal i thought the young goalie played very well.looks a good prespect
