    Here at the highlights

There is no way that Forest were better than us apart from the individual mistakes that we made and our bad finishing.

We need a hungry goal poacher who could have quite easily have grabbed himself a hattrick.

    Afternoon elland.

Only seen highlights so waiting match reports from those that were there with interest.

Monk talks about individual errors but to me it seems to be a collective problem from set pieces. For both the first 2 goals the majority of our defenders were dragged either toward the from post or in the case of the second way beyond the front post. On both occasions leaving one on ones at the back post. This is tactical from the opposition. It's difficult just to blame the defender left on his own. Maybe we should change to zonal marking and see if that helps.

    Afternoon Jammy,

Why now are the Leeds fans revolting? (quo Wall fans)

Leeds have been in a far worse state in the last 5 years and we have put up with it...

Then last year there were some moans and groans, now, its like a bad day in Syria!

I thought their first goal was lucky, it was hit n hope. Somehow it nestled in the topfarside corner.

It was always going to be difficult to come back from that...

I'd like to to play with three centre backs in our next game using Taylor and Ayling as old fashioned wing backs.

Why? Sadly, changing tactics will not change anything (apart from make us worse by playing an unfamiliar system). You'll still be playing the same players that can't concentrate.

Actually, to a certain extent I take that back. Set piece tactics need to be changed. People covering posts for a start. Not only does it narrow the goal, but it allows them to run out to intercept when someone falls asleep defensively - like Ayling +/or Cooper did for the first 2 goals yesterday.

First 2-3 games I felt we were playing catch up and against Sheff W I thought we were finally up to pace.

Are the mistakes down to lack of time on the training ground, is it something we can improve we just need more time?

Is it that the players we have signed are not quite as good as we were hoping?

Is Monk lacking in his coaching ability and tactics?

It has to be at least one of those....

I'm edging towards poor team selection/formation and tactics myself. For starters, Hernandez either needs dropping or playing at 10 rather than on the wing and Monk needs to accept he made a mistake in Green and drop him.

Afternoon pal, I agree about Green. Give either Silvestri or Peacock a start, and let Green earn it back.

First of all, the positive to take from the match is that not one of the goals appear to have come through the middle of our midfield! I'd need someone at the match to confirm, but I suspect the midfield wasn't over-run, at least not as badly as the norm of late.

The goals - I've given an opinion elsewhere. Basically, Ayling & Cooper displayed lack of concentration/conviction for 2 out of 3 goals each. Green was at fault for all 3 IMO. And Monk is at fault for not having the posts covered at set pieces. :steam:

The lack of goals - based on the highlights, we went forward & were creative. Problem is, our shooting was more suited to rugby than football. 2 weeks of solid practice is essential. Couldn't hit a coos arse wi' a banjo! <doh>

Just watched the highlights. On one side, they barely touched the ball in the first hour, and we could easily have been out of sight. On the other side, we are still terrible at defending set pieces. We also need someone to score.

For the next game, our new CB has to start. In addition, I hope we find another CF. Think things will pick up. But we do need to improve a bit

Personally, it would appear from all reports that Green is lacking, though think it harsh to blame him for the first two goals, badly defended in the centre.
Also don't think just putting Silvestri back in is going to solve the defensive problems. Up until the 2-0 win against the wendies we hadn't kept a clean sheet for the previous 15 matches and that spans the time Silvestri played. Also, and those that have seen more of him correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't he a serial flapper at crosses when he played. Only way to improve is with George Graham type drills involving the whole back five so each knows their responsibilities.
Is it time to give turnbull or bpf a go and if not move one of them on?

Disagree about the first 2 goals. Both balls were in or around the 6yd box. Goalie fodder. He was nailed to the line. I could do that! Should have at least come out for them, rather than jumping like a 6yo. Could Silvestri have done better? Moot point. At the beginning of last season, deffo no. Towards the end of the season? Possibly +/or sometimes. Also agree that the defenders were useless.

Whatever happens, I think we've been very generous with the opportunities we've given Green. Someone else needs a chance. That's 6 games now & he's not been outstanding once. Who? Dunno, tbh. I'd pick Silvestri, but have a hunch that Monk will stick with Green because he brought him in. If he's as ruthless as he makes out, he'll drop him, but I doubt it.

Not a defence of green, just making the point that these issues are nothing new and have been a problem for over a season. True though that I don't rate Silvestri either.

Cellino wants to get a forward in before Wednesdays cut off?

Is it going to be Naymar, Messi or Suarez?

Wages may be a problem. They're all on 10 euros or there abouts...

Even if we got another striker in, they'd need to score a hat-trick every week so we could get a draw. <yikes>

OK, an over-reaction, but you know what I mean. :(

To be fair to Silvestri, his command of the area & distribution did improve last season. I'd even go as far as saying that he's better in these respects than Green. Green has really disappointed me.

I agree that these issues are not new, but Monk not covering the posts now. Why? Can't understand it.

What I don't understand is why we are chasing another forward, when obviously we are desperate for another defender

    I know what you mean.

WHICH area of the pitch do we need to strengthen in if you had 2 signings?

I reckon we will sign two players by Wednesdays deadline
