I have supported Saints since the McMenemy days and have witnessed a few managers who have let us down in that time and mostly in the last 11 years. Hoddle to Spurs, Redknapp back to skates ,Poch to Spurs and Koeman to Everton. Although Hoddle to Spurs was upsetting at the time you could understand him going to Spurs plus he got sacked after losing to Saints which was very satisfying. Koeman well he seemed an honest fella how wrong we were. Poch I think would have stayed if Cortese had not resigned and Redknapp well not worth the bother but top of the list for me is a total opposite to the others because he did not leave for another team but eventually sacked his name Ian Branfoot. As David Baddiel pointed out in the Matt Le Tissier Unbelievable dvd "It's a mistake any manager could make leaving out your best player" and with signings like David Speedie Kerry Dixon well enough said. Who is your most hated former Saints Boss?
Hated is too strong a word, but my list of least favourites - 1. Pardew/Redknapp 2. Branfoot I don't particularly dislike any of the others. Koeman can do one, but Everton and their fans annoyed me more than he did. Pochettino I like.
Redknapp should be top of the list for everyone. The rest, well they might have lied to the fans/club but in some ways they've all be justified by having more money to spend and improving the sides they've joined.
I would have put Branfoot ahead of Redkrapp but then Branfoot is a god on the Lincoln forums so I'll put him in second behind "Ime No Weela Deela"
For me Rednapp.........Although both Pochetino and Koeman run a close second. I didn't have too much of a problem with Hoddle, although I was upset at the time. You could understand it after all. I do not like it when people welch on their contracts to go to so called bigger clubs.
I joined just as Branfoot was on his way so can't judge. Has to be Redknapp by a country mile....we have had bad sides, but any half competent manager would have kept that team up. And he was blatantly disrespectful after he left....and (though I don't care) he did the same to Portsmouth. I hate his milking of the media and their sycophancy towards him. Disliked Poch for the way he hid behind his 'lack of English' to deceive us, but don't care any more. Shocked at discovering that Koeman wasn't the up front honest man he appeared....though he may have got called out when trying to strong arm Les. But no one can even touch Good Ol' 'Arry for making my gorge rise every time he appears on telly.
Woah , if you're going to talk about Koeman atleast describe him properly, prick dosent quite cut it .
Koeman didn't perform in some areas (notably youth football) in the way Les wanted, but was unassailable (or thought he was) after such a great season. By his admission, he wanted to see out his last season, but Reed wanted him to sign a new contract. Les obviously believed he was about to sign a new contract or went public to try and force his hand. A strop then ensued. My view, not necessarily how it panned out. However, I have to say I would rather have kept Ronald for this important season and had a whole year to get a replacement....may very well have still been Puel, but it would have been better planned. But perhaps that was never an option....we will probably never know.
As a personality, I hate Redknobb with a passion, but the only Saints manager I disliked while he was still managing the club was Branfoot.
I don't particularly like this manger as the straw is a little too chewy and it is not long enough for me to lay down in.
