Are they? I haven't read the whole thread. I thought he was excellent personally. Really panicked the Spurs defence, they didn't know whether to track him or not. He was across the front line everywhere - very much a 10's style of being a 9. But it worked.

I was just reading the last page and Mito was saying Firmino isn't great and someone else said he isn't a striker. Seems pretty negative to me onsidering he was one of our best players yesterday IMO.

No ones denying that, but why not just blow the whistle let the corner be taken and then give the pen if it's still going on.

By stopping the corner being taken and warning defender he's letting gim off big time. As you say ball is out of play can't give a foul so why get involved? If they holding during the run up but let go when in play that's fine. Ref should just blow the whistle and then if it's still going on give the foul

Think Lallana had a good game yesterday. Especially off the ball, put in some important tackles and pressure. Good positioning and provided 2 or 3 great balls for Mane, including the offside goal. He was just unlucky with the timing for that, Eric Dier was further offside for the lead up to the Rose goal.

Didn't see the game but it sounds like you were good value for the lead and then drifted out the game with Spurs finishing the stronger.

A draw is a good result at the Lane though. I still think you need a midfield enforcer.

Finally got around to watching the game - Firmino was excellent in that role. He doesn't have the directness of Mane or as clinical as Sturridge so he won't feature on Match Of The Day - but his intelligence and movement is excellent and crucial to the way we play.

I suspect Klopp still plays him as the CF because of how weak the midfield and defence are - so we need the protection to press from the front.

Good to see a better performance from Henderson.

Yup, he is one of the most intelligent footballers we have, great at creating space for others and pulling defenders out of position with his moment.

I really don't understand what Klopp is doing with our midfield. I don't think Wijnaldum & Lallana can play together, it has to be one or the other in a central role in my opinion and I also think Henderson is in the wrong role and he should be where Wijnaldum is currently playing as having him in more of a holding role negates his energy which is probably his best asset.

Henderson has to play DM whilst Can not available as there is no other viable option. Looked like quite a bit of work had been done during the week with Henderson on his positioning/awareness when playing that role as it was much improved.
Would like to see Grujic having some gametime just to see how he copes in PL plus an extra body to be thrown on late on would be helpful as some of our team were running on empty yesterday - tbf not surprisingly considering the intensity we played with

We had Lucas and Kevin Stewart on the bench.

Think Stewart is often overlooked by fans. A young DM who's been fairly consistent once he was given opportunities since the turn of the year. Klopp even rewarded him a 4 year contract, see a big future for the lad.

The midfield is really awful IMO - Lalana Henderson and Gini just doesn't work, despite brief glimpses yesterday.

None of them have the defensive quality of someone like Can or a DM, and none have the ability to dictate or control the midfield.

Even with Can, we're light in that area and we're banking on Grujic to provide a solution.

Rumours are that we're after a CM like Dahoud or Paredes.

Would much rather have someone like Stewart or Lucas playing DM, and then we're able to allow Gini and Hendo to play box to box with more freedom.

Gini spent a lot of time covering for Milner so he's a little restricted in what he can do.

On a side note, pleased with Matip and thought he dealt with most things easily. Still feel that he and Sakho could really blossom into a good partnership, despite an OK performance from Lovren yesterday.

The goal we conceded is another example of us making 2,3 or even 4 individual errors.

    Unacceptable.

We need Grujic and Can in the midfield to give it some bite. To many weak tackles yesterday.

Where is Grujic? He's not even been on the bench as he? Or is he injured?

He can tackle judging by some of the videos on You Tube, which I know is not the be all and end all of players, but it shows what he can do in a midfield set up correctly. He also gets goals
