The odds on Joe Hart joining Sunderland have been slashed after David Moyes confirmed that Black Cats goalkeeper Vito Mannone has been ruled out for at least three months.

England stopper Hart has been frozen out at Manchester City by Pep Guardiola this season, being restricted to the bench for their opening two Premier League games.

City signed Chile goalkeeper Claudio Bravo from Barcelona yesterday and Hart has been told that he can leave the club.

After Everton boss Ronald Koeman ruled out a move for the 29-year-old yesterday, bookmakers have cut the odds on Hart moving to the Stadium of Light following the news that the Black Cats' No.1 will miss at least three months.

Mannone has been ruled out for at least three months
"Vito has torn ligaments in his elbow and we're waiting to see whether it will require surgery," said Moyes. "A minimum of three months."

"We definitely need to look for another goalkeeper because we only have a young 'keeper after Jordan Pickford."

Manchester City eager to find Joe Hart a new club before transfer window closes, says sporting director

Hart is now third choice at City following Bravo's arrival and has until transfer deadline day on Wednesday to find a new club or he will be forced to kick his heels at City until January at least.

City sporting director Txiki Begiristain said that the club are doing all they can to find a new club for Hart.

“I think we're going to try to find a good solution for everybody,” he said in Monaco at the Champions League draw yesterday.

“Now we have one week and we have to make him [Hart] happy and if he can find a solution and find a club where he has a real chance to play regularly.

“So we're going to try to help him, because he deserves the best answer from us.”

Sevilla have joined Everton in dismissing any interest in Hart, meaning there are few options left for the 29-year-old ahead of deadline day.

City are understood to be willing to pay the bulk of Hart's £130,000-a-week wages if he can secure a loan deal somewhere, but there are few takers for him as it stands.

What back up keeper is going to come in this late? Crazy not getting in a keeper who is still the England number 1. If the finances are right then get him in, Opportunities like this never come around for us.

Although I can see the logic of bringing in Hart on loan, particularly if City agree to pay most of the wages, my gut feeling is that this is the time for Pickford to shine and signing Hart on loan would end up having negative connotations.

We have lost our first 2 games, we will probably lose today (hope not but it's not n easy task) our team and squad is threadbare to say the least, we are playing kids in a lot of positions (including keeper).

We have a chance of bringing England's #1 in and people are saying they dont want him, give the kid a chance. Whilst I am all for giving youth a chance, I don't think we can rely on them and put even more pressure on them than in necessary.

If we have the chance to sign Hart, get him in, it may be the difference between staying up and relegation, it at Be be the difference between 17th and 10th, which is another £7-9m in prize money at the end of the season.

Pickford time will come and having Hart may bring him on more, not less.

If Hart comes in I can see Pickford bailing out and do we really want to lose him?

Get Harper back on a monthly basis if he's available. That bloke is a bench warmer

Pickford would have been second fiddle to Manone anyway if he wasn't injured, so not sure why he would leave.

With Hart in the team, I would say our chances of getting relegated are a lot less than having Pickford in the team even Manone in the team, I just think its no brainer if the opportunity does present itself.

But the talk around the campfire is that hart carries a £7m season loan fee. Would you pay that to borrow him?

If that's correct, no, unless the fee comes off any future transfer like the Gyan deal when we sold him, but even then probably not.

Be cheaper just to pay all his wages for the season, about £4.6m @ £120,000 a week.
