I know he said the first part. But missed his full interview. My brother he said the rest of it. Even in his interview with Saints you can tell he is pissed off. Players are having a go at him big time. Jay: listen to Jays interview. He doesn't mention Puel at all. He says about the players and that he just wants to play.
What is it with managers? Why try to get players used to a new system when last season's got Saints up to 6th. OK, we've lost personnel in key areas but surely others can fill the gap more than adequately?
Perhaps he thought it was a tired system seeing as most teams in the prem use it, so thought the diamond would come in and blow teams out of the water. Hes had mixed results in France so who knows.
Indeed, it was. We have now taken 35 shots from outside the box this season, scoring one goal via a goalkeeper howler.
We weren't very good today and very hard to try and focus on positives because that would just be really looking for them. Positives: we actually only got 4 points from three, the season before last, not 5 and 2 last year and I got to meet Itsonlyagame and his Mrs in the pub - great to see another not606er in the pub today. However bad it was today in large parts, I really am so pleased with my outlook on life. I could never be like some of you negative buggers, I really couldn't. Fran hit the nail on the head saying some can't wait to say I told you so. I'm not even going to try and reason with some of the views I've just read and those I heard booing the team at half time today. I couldn't possibly defend the performance because it was bad, but that sort of **** doesn't help the team. So many things looked wrong today, but the manager should be given a chance to put it right before people start calling for his head. Utter nonsense. All the times I've read people slagging off other teams' fans for doing just what some of us are doing, after 3 games, is just as bad. I always say that 6-10 games is the time span to look. If he sorts it out in that time then great and if it means we have a poor start and only end up being able to finish very mid table or even below, then so be it. That happens in sport. I've said for about three years now that a lot of our fans won't be able to handle a season that isn't an improvement on the last. Here we are. Anyway, enjoy your evening folks, I'm not going to get embroiled in slagging off the club or management or even players, or trying to reason with people who may go over the top. Oh and while typing I have thought of one more positive: the ref was absolutely ****, people have moaned about him, but Tom hasn't defended him
Well, I have never been convinced with Puel. I really wasn't keen on him before he joined and it seems my concerns have some justification.
Yeah but 'we need to learn system fast' is quite different to 'the tactics aren't good enough' Which is why I asked beefy if it was an exact quote.
I've not read the whole thread, so forgive me if I'm stating the obvious, but we lacked width... Redmond is a right winger, Tadic is a left winger... It's not hard is it!!!!!? You fit a system to the players you have, not the other way round... square pegs....... right where's the wine????
That is not a correct quote at all. He did not say those words. Maybe you interpreting to say what you think he meant? What I heard was the performance was not good enough and the result wasn't either considering the opposition and that the players have to adapt to the new system but that it's hard. I am not intending my interpretation to be a direct quote.
And I said I didn't hear the second part. All I heard is "the players don't know what they are doing".
I put what he said, was listening to Solent on way back from the match when they interviewed VVD. And now Tony Husband (of BBC) has tweeted about negative feelings coming from players after his interviews after the match.
Then I must have been so annoyed I heard something different or accidently took some drugs. But the players definitely aren't happy.
