And this comes to light just after the Jemal deal falls through, it all makes sense. I reckon we had the Gorkss/Puncheon deal on hold just in case the Jemal deal fell through, which it has - clever negotiating by Cortese me thinks
Happy days! I would sooner have Gorkss tbh....I'm literally drooling over our starting XI should this be true....
Good signing if it happens - at least we wouldn't have to worry about him adapting to the league. Fits the mold of 'improving what we already have'.
Thats one possibility. But if its true we want to sign him then wouldn't we have just have continued with the part exchange deal as we definately dont want Puncheon? Cant see Puncheon turning down QPR unless he wants to turn out with the reserve and youth team for a year.
I don't see why Gorkss wouldn't want to join us. Would he really want to stay there after QPR have tried to get rid of him?
At the stage in his career he is, playing in Premier League surely is a more appealing prospect than another year in the championship. I'm not doubting our credentials or how we compare to QPR. But the bottom line - Premier league v Championship is a good reason he might not want to join us
I thought that when we signed Fonte from Palace but he also bought into our 5 year plan and vision for the future.
True but my point was if Warnock is as honest as everybody says he is then surely he'd have told Gorkss that he is not going to be in his plans this year and that he'd be better off finding a move. However, I don't really know what the situation is... maybe Warnock would still like to keep Gorkss, but all I'm saying is that if Gorkss is not wanted, then it is pointless him staying there if he's not going to play.
Would be ideal if this comes off, perfect tried and tested cb at this level! As northernirishsaint said our starting XI now looks very very sharp with ample cover in all positions from what I can tell.
