I'm one of the ones focusing on Fede at the moment Kiff but agree losing our leader at the back hasn't helped him and mybe left him feeling a little exposed. Williams controlled the whole back line and we are missing that. I'm gonna watch today's game and try not to obsess over Fede and see how we get on. All we can do at this point is hope Fede and Amat begin to Gel and read each others games. This will happen as the season progresses but I hate the fact that we are learning on the run. Maybe this was because of Williams late exit and the boys haven't had time to adjust yet but this is something that should be addressed in training imo and not on the pitch. Well see what happens today. I think our midfield and attack are OK but their problem is that they are currently a little ponderous and predictable. We need to get back to the days when we made the ball do all the work and speed up our passing, improving our passing accuracy wouldn't go amiss either but I know we can do this. One thin I'd like is for Montero to stop floating 99% of his crosses into the box. I'd like him to mix it up and whip them in high and low to give Loriente a chance to be more effective in the box. With a supporting midfield rushing the box good things will happen I'm sure 1-1 today but we could nick it especially if Leicester come out all guns blazing, their off form themselves remember, and could leave holes everywhere as they pile forward in desperation. We've always been sharp on the counter attack.
Good points Stumpy and I agree on Montero's crosses. We had some success with that last season because Ayew was a great header of the ball and could generate great power on a floated cross. Looks like Llorente isn't that type and would benefit from crosses that are whipped in at pace. Today should be an interesting game, and whilst I feel sorry for Guidolin for two main reasons - Baston injured and not having the quality CB signing that he asked for - he needs to earn his wages today and get those all-important tactics right.
I know we have reservations about our capability at the back now that Ash has gone. However if you recall last season' s away game to Leicester Ash had a 'Weston Super Mare' of a game. We had 62% possession and lost 4-0 so let's hope for a better defensive display today.
I want to be confident but I can only see us loosing today. Heart says 2-1 swansea (Llorente and Siggy) Had says 2-0 Leicester
Swans is Had your brother or something. I agree, but our current 2 centre backs got run ragged by 2 sides who are expected to go down, They lacked organisation, vision, shape, dare I say ability, I dread to think what Vardy and Mahrez will do to them. It is my biggest worry, the rest of the team although not really strengthened looks ok and capable of keeping us in the league, the back 2 I would trade for any other sides back 2 as it stands. I would sooner be travelling to Leicester with Ash at the back than not.
Pleased to see him on the bench today. If he hadn't been included in the match day group, it would have sent out the wrong message to him, and to others who are looking for their opportunity.
