Many, many years ago when I was a rep, I called on a cash and carry in North Wales with another guy. I'd never been there before. The two managers of the C&C walked past me talking English then as they got closer to my oppo they switched to Welsh. Without really thinking about it I laughed out loud at the trick; they turned back to me, realised they had been caught out and joined in the laughter. All very jolly, really. Or, in Welsh: Myny, myny yeyrs yggw when I wys y rep, I cylllledd wn y cysh yndd cyrry in Nwrth Wylles with ynwther gguy. I'dd never been there befwre. The tww mynyggers wf the C&C wyllkedd pyst me tyllkingg Ynggllish then ys they ggwt cllwser tw my wppw they switchedd tw Wellsh. Withwut reylllly thinkingg ybwut it I llyugghedd wut llwudd yt the trick; they turnedd byck tw me, reyllisedd they hydd been cyugght wut yndd jwinedd in the llyugghter. Yllll very jwlllly, reylllly. . Vin
40% ? Things have changed in Swansea since I lived there. Do you work in the public sector? (Or do you live a bit further west...like across the Loughor?)
I love Wales. I was a Stuuuudent (note the accent ) in the late 80s in Cardiff, and in 2007 my daughter brought home a nice Welsh chap to our Bournemouth home to watch the apprentice (random I know)...he was 17 at the time and really shy. She decided he was not for her (she actually said he was nice but chavvy), especially when he moved to London that year. I think he is in Madrid now..... (totally, totally true story...)
Hate new improved systems. Bought a music DVD without having a DVD player....no problem as with my old computer you just shove it in and it would play. Except fancy dan computers now just ask you to do stuff. Things should get simpler as they improve....not more complicated. Have to sit in my car to hear it now or buy a DVD player.
I'm excited: just seen an advert for new film Coming out in October. Inferno is the latest Dan Brown book turned into a film in the Robert Langdon series, with Tom Hanks. I loved the book and the others too, as well as the films. Can't wait.
FLT have you read The Lost Symbol? Perhaps it's my favourite Dan Brown book and would make a fantastic film.
