Weren't they the club that Eddy Sylvestre was on loan to? Whatever, they got Sergi Enrich on a free so that'd be a tidy profit. Especially for someone with 9 goals in 38 games least season. Although he's apparently strong, good at holding up and got a fair few assists. The 25yr old from Menorca signed a contract extention (till summer 2018) in January. He came on as a late sub for them in their first game this season at the weekend.
From Slavs press conference today... Slavisa Jokanovic has revealed Fulham are ?very close? to signing a new striker. And speaking in his press conference at the club?s Motspur Park training ground this afternoon, Jokanovic explained just how close he was to adding to his squad. The Fulham head coach said ?Generally we haven?t covered the position of striker and we don?t have enough people in this area ? we are talking about a position that we still have to cover and I think we are going to sign one or two strikers.? ?Actually right now a player is in our building and is very close to becoming part of our club. But while it is unclear who the mystery man is, whispers suggest it is unlikely to be the ex-Premier League striker Gyan who bagged 11 goals in 35 games for Sunderland between 2010 and 2012.?
It could be the Spanish guy, could be counting Kebano as a striker though he looks more of a winger, could be somebody unexpected!!!
Definitely not Gyan - we can't afford his wages, even as a one-off payment. Could be this guy Cookie:
Personally I think we have midfield covered but according to Twitter Stefan Johanson of Celtic is at Motspur Park today having a medical!!
Hear what you're saying Cookie but he'd be a great addition to the squad. And we've been linked with him since the beginning of June - Sarah Brookes is reported as having said, "two bodies are in the medical room". Could be this guy AND your striker!!!
As expected Kebano is back with Genk, he is on the bench as we speak but transfer is still expected to go through. While following the Kebano saga on Twitter a noticed a lot of fans in Belgium saying we had a good signing but the real gem in there team is the striker Samatta and we should go for him. His goals to game ratio is very good and he has scored tonight already within two minutes.
Kebano came through safely. Believe he came on as a sub as Genk held on to a 2-0 lead. If he's now heading our way again, he'll need the International break to get his breath back.
Carlos Mane, a forward, was one of the names bandied around as a possible because Sporting had defaulted on some of the Ruiz fee, Craving. The whole thing is smoke and mirrors and even if he did join it'd be on loan. Can't see the Gaffer being overly happy. It would be Zakaria Labyad all over again - a waste of everybody's time.
One of the 'bodies' is definitely Stefan Johansen. His agent Tore Pedersen confirmed to newspapers that "the 25-year-old was undergoing a medical at Craven Cottage on Thursday night". Source: http://www.scotsman.com/sport/footb...-senderos-to-complete-rangers-deal-1-4213305? PS You'll no doubt have picked up from the link that this Scottish "heavyweight" is also reporting on Senderos and indeed the article covers yet another Fulhamite, Pat Roberts.
I know we've discussed Johansen before, but can someone remind me where he plays. Wikipedia says he's a central midfielder; would that make him a possible partner for McDonald or part of the three behind the main striker?
Having returned to Belgium to play for Genk last night Kebano is pictured on Twitter this morning on a flight to London. As mentioned above Stefan Johanson was having a medical yesterday and could be completed today. A poster on FoF stated that yesterday he saw Johanson and Kebano at Motspur park, if he's telling the truth it is unlikely to Kebano as he had returned to Belgium so could well have been Cyriac which would fit with Slav's statement of a striker is in the house! Given all of this we could get three signings today Or the more negative reports are the striker in the house was Bamford but he has rejected us to go to Burnley
He's the defensive midfielder that Jokanovic has been going on about us needing for the last few weeks. As I undestand it the Gaffer wants to play 2 in central midfield and recognises that it's a long season with only McDonald and Parker, so wants another in that spot.
Johansen has played in both attacking and defensive positions at Celtic, I wouldn't say hes an out and out DM but can play in a deeper role. 19 goals in 2 and a half years at Celtic tells you hes very much at home in an attacking role. His first full season at Celtic he ended the year as Scotlands player of the year, scoring plenty of goals and creating a lot as well. To me hes a creative player, he makes things happen and I think he'd be comfortable playing anywhere in midfield.
After all the brouhaha he's gone to Granada on a season loan. Time will tell but it may have been a blessing in disguise.
Blimey that's most of them ticked off. Have we got enough money left for a striker? Good that we're using the 'Ross & Mitrog Money' (and the other bits that have accumulated) to build a squad rather that splash out on one 'big' signing. However, reckon there's only about £1.5m left in the kitty. Mr Khan may have to dig into his FFP Allowance!!
