That's good progress. I just hope that N'Doye isn't the other option.

I wonder if Oliveira will get the no 9 shirt - might be an indicator for someone else to come in if he doesn't.

I think our defence is OK at this level. Not brilliant but OK.

AN has said that the Oliveira deal would be on a permanent contract, not a loan, so my guess is that he'd get the number 9 as DD suggests, especially as AN considers him a "a modern day number 9" according to Paddy Davitt. The most likely other rumour is Enner Valencia, who West Ham are willing to let leave (possibly on loan) once they sign a new striker, which they are about to do in the form of Simone Zasa from Juve. Valencia is described as an Ecuadorian international "jet-heeled" striker with a powerful shot as well. His goal-scoring record is uneven, but at 5'8" he'd provide another option. Early days on this one, but it could happen as a loan deal (West Ham paid £12m for him). Stephano Okaka, who has also been mentioned, seems more unlikely to me because he'd be yet another in the number 9 targetman mold and therefore too similar to Jerome and Oliveira. My thoughts anyway.

Surely no chance getting Enner Valencia!!? Even on loan. Is that a real rumour going round?! He'd be amazing, but a side in the top leagues of World football would definitely be looking at him if he's free to leave! Pace, flair confidence, great shot, very skilful. When he was fantastic In His first season at WH, Chelsea were very interested in him.

I had exactly the same thought OCF. See that the Wolf has scored three in four games so far, which is beginning to look like we used/misused him badly. His record before he came to us was very good. Curse you CH etc.
