I know it's not that difficult
    But I am very lazy

(anyway your voltage estimate is way off...I licked it to check )

Yes but your ECT should lift your mood & remove the voices telling you to move the socket ...

I can move it, piece of piss. You'd need someone to connect the wires to it after though.

Typical, it's just self, self, self with you. What about me being financially better off after it?

when you say master socket I assume you mean the point at which the internet is wired into your house or in other terms the demarcation point. I don't really see how you are going to be able to do this yourself. You own and are responsible for everything on your side of that point (all the wiring in the house etc) anything outside of that point is property of the telco provider. So by that logic you are essentially meddling with someone elses equipment without their permission.

Now I'm not expert at this stage but I imagine they will leave some slack in the wiring to allow engineers to move that demarcation point but by how much I have no idea, so depending on how far you want to move it could potentially be a bit of work to do so, rewiring potentially....

Pick up the phone to KC and ask them what the score is and I'm sure they will send out an engineer (at a cost) to do this for you.

I have called KC already so I know how much it costs, which was why I wondered if anyone else wanted the job instead
The box is inside the house, and it looks a piece of piss to be fair, (albeit a bit of work reroutimg the wiring, but you may be right)

It depends how you want to do it, you could take the wire coming into the house and extend it yourself (if there wasn't enough slack). Reasons I wouldn't do it are

    1. It's illegal
    2. If they find out they have you by the balls, its' not like you can go somewhere else for your internet
    3. No Guarantee you or anyone else does a good job and might cause signal degradation effecting the latency and throughput of service.

Have you had light-stream installed yet?

Ah...that may be an important piece of info!
In that case I definitely won't be doing it myself...move along...nothing to see here !

Not sure as I don't live in the area, the point is right now you're running a copper cable from the exchange box to your house, when they install lightstream my understanding is they will run glass Fiber to your house, now it would be an awful shame for you to pay £200 to get your master socket moved if they turn up in 3 weeks to rewire your house anyway....

Edit: I mean High level glass is always better than copper but will it actually benefit you? depends how quick you are at now and what you use it for.

If you are having a it of work done, then have you got a sparky coming? He'll do it if so.
Wouldn't worry about the illegal bit. They won't know where it was put Originally and you play dumb, like it when we bought the house etc. they aren't bothered.

Hypothetically if I was going to move it, which I won't be as it's illegal, I could do it myself anyway, but yes I do have sparkys on hand too
