I don't know about dodging a bullet, he has always scored goals in the Championship and would be handy to have around. I don't understand why he has gone to Villa though. I get the history and all that ****e, but that club is in disarray and has been for ages.

Maybe he is thinking of pundit work after retirement! Ha!

If we were going to smash our transfer record price and pay mahoosive wages I would rather it was on someone under 30 who isn't Scottish.

    Yeah, I get that.

But if you want something for the here and now that scores goals then that's what he brings. Same with Gayle.

These players are expensive but that's the situation we are in. No doubt we will get a Bamford/Kane type player in 10 minutes before the window closes. The Norwich way.

    Really!?

I'd take a young, hungry and talented Kane type player any day of the week. Especially at Championship level. Would've taken Bamford at Championship level too (can't now as he's gone to Burnley) as he was Championship Player Of The Season a couple of years ago so proven at this level.

After tomorrow we will be FIVE games into the new season, six if you include the EFL Cup and we have still to sign a striker. Yes Mr Neil we all know that it's not like going to Tesco's and picking one off the shelf, but NCFC have had since the middle of May to aquire the services of said player that's almost 4 months FFS. What is it that makes our club different to others ?

And the other idiotic thing is that the later in the window it gets, the more expensive it gets too.
Are we really in a position to squander money when there's no need to?
Plus anyone coming in now or god forbid (£££) on deadline day will take 2,3,4 weeks to acclimatise to the NCFC style, so we'll be a quarter of the way through the season before they're fit, ready and fully firing <yikes>

I like this guy. Big and strong and holds the ball up well,. Skilful. Powerful and likes taking players on. Seems like he has an eye for goal and creates plenty fo chances too. Would fit into AN's sytem really well. Hope there's some truth in it as I think he could be a beast at this level. But I doubt he'd want to come to the Championship, especially as Sunderland still seem to be sniffing around.

I wonder what the odds are on Oliveira/N'Doye in and Lafferty out ?

I've a feeling in my water that this will be the likely scenario. If it was, what would we think - I, for one, would be disappointed if this was the case.

Money, location, reputation, ambition- read those whichever way your want. But also many clubs fail to get players they want despite doing everything that they can within a framework/plan that typically consider a range of eventualities over at least a 5 year period. We'd supposedly agreed a deal with Mr I prefer Villa and one can see why her choose villa in terms of past stature and perceived future stature/ambition.
It may be that NCFC have to modify their plan and pay marginally more head to the potential benefits of a transaction, rather than the costs. Having said that, clubs of the size of NCFC can easily slide into difficulties if they overstretch by even small amounts and success is not achieved. Also they have had their fingers burnt with the dutch bellend and will understandably have figures that they are not willing to exceed. I would love better players to be signed but to be honest I'm more excited by the young squad that is being assembled. it reminds me of the building work Fergie did at the manc ****ers . If this Portuguese fella comes, that'll be enough with the level of talent now at the club. I'm confident of achieving success this season.

Gayle is way younger scored at PL level and cheaper .
We apparently nearly signed him in January until Palace had an injury so should have kept the interest up and offered the going rate as soon as the season ended.

Lafferty will go I presume so Jerome Nelson and Moris may be good enough but they better not get injured.

That's my fear DD - we have to hope at this stage that CamJam remains injury free.

Can you place bets on players getting injured? I can just see no deal happening and then Jerome getting injured in the first week of September, ruling him out for several months.

There's still the loan window for us lower league sides .
I'm hoping we sign Nelson up with a buy option after a season then get big Dave in on loan .
    Best possible scenario now .

Not any longer, they've scrapped the Emergency Loan Window this season unfortunately. Our squad on 1st September is what we have to work with until January. That of course means our youngsters can't be loaned out either.
