I want to start a new thread but I just don't know where to start or even what to call it. I'm absolutely fascinated (and have been for over 40 years) about the prospect of life on other planets, beings more intelligent than us (either now or in the distant past), aliens landing on this planet a long time ago, us doing the same and starting life on another planet in the future. Are we robots and if so who/what created the robots? Are we recreating ourselves with intelligent robots that we can send to other planets? Why is only 5% of our brain active? How intelligent can we get and how long will it take? What is conceivably possible with the other 95% (Can't find the user manual anywhere). Are there aliens somewhere with a darn sight more that 5 % developed brains? If we are robots then maybe we were purposefully restricted to 5% etc etc etc. Nothing fascinates me more as I firmly believe we were created by former aliens and one day we will repeat the process on another planet in preparation for when this one dies. The one thing that pisses me off is that I won't be around long enough to see all this materialise.
Also, I would like to file a complaint to the creator of us humans. Clearly all the requirements were not thought through sufficiently. I often find that when my back itches it is in the one place I can't reach. Surely we should be able to rotate so that the back can be scratched just as easily as can the front. The fact that the back will itch far more often than the front just highlights the design fault. Also, placing the eyes in the front of the face does severely restrict vision. I would suggest placing the eyes on the top of the head to provide 360 degrees vision. A standard male/female interface is a possible consideration although may be not very popular. I would certainly consider building the womb as a separate device rather than the current built in version as this would facilitate easier birth production and avoid unnecessary interruptions in service. The makers have not provided any contact details so when my design is complete I'll probably have to publish it on Facebook and hope it gets picked up.
Yes, agree with Cyc, new thread Ron! On the itchy back, well our tiny 5% brain section invented, firstly, the wooden back-scratcher, then an admirable telescopic stainless-steel one (which I purchased from (upmarket) "Tchibo" some time ago). In addition. The male 5% brain also quickly understood and appreciated the Power's genius in inventing the Wife, a truly magnificent accessory to the Male. The amazing skills of the Wife include, of course, the ability to apply a salve on ítchy and unreachable parts of the back, and other places too, I guess. The 95% unused section of the brain fascinates me, I really must check with my medical-daughter on this. Could it be that some of us use a great proportion of this chunk of tissue on trying to locate winners in horseracing. This would explain the lack of success that many of us endure? Ah yes, for those Males who as yet do not have the Wife accessory, our truly amazing piece of 5% brain came up with an alternative (and equally useful) tool, namely....."The Partner".
It's called a 'hooker' who likes you!!!!!!! Took a very nice 'young' lady up to Auld Reekie's gay bars last night! Cannae remember getting back to my pit however the aforesaid damsel was not here this morning!
Yes, BayernKenny, complimentary backscratch thrown-in too? Ron, what are you doing? Due to my very limited intelligence resources (and I mean it), had to resort to "Neuroscience For Kids" website: https://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/tenper.html Note "For a continuing discussion of this topic, please see" at the end. Will tackle this slowly over the next few days.
Well that's interesting. When I was young I read (or heard on TV) that only child prodigies developed more than 5% of their brain. Clearly that isn't true. Our brain has all the charateristics of a computer. A central processor, operating system, software, cache, ram, hard disc, rules base, scanner, several io ports, speech recognition and output. It also has advanced features such as sensory technology, robotics, and an option of software installation/creation is available to some models. Archiving is a standard option. Maybe new operating systems will be introduced at some stage facilitating more advanced features
The BGS geological timeline site map Interesting. I like the way it ends up with: "And finally, in another few billion years, the sun will become a red giant, expanding greatly in size and eventually engulfing the Earth and its inhabitants with immense heat and radiation. Life on Earth will come to an end. But perhaps by then living organisms will have escaped the confines of the Earth and be living on other planets, perhaps under a different sun, elsewhere in the cosmos." Of course, but long before then. Sureley they can't believe this and also believe that everything started from this planet. No logic in that at all. If they accept "perhaps by then living organisms will have escaped the confines of the Earth and be living on other planets, perhaps under a different sun, elsewhere in the cosmos.", they must accept that perhaps living organisms will have escaped the confines of some other planet elsewhere in the cosmos.and be living here on earth, under a different sun, to their own"
Of course it's logical Ron. If that was the case you could ask why are we born to die? The Earth is no different. The planet just happened to be among the right conditions to spark life here, and one day it will cease. They know the fate of the Sun, millions of stars die every week, the Sun will be no different. And it will destroy the Earth with it's collapse. We're just lucky to be here at the right time. Some reckon space is infinite, imagine that! There's sure to be some other form of life light years away, they've already pointed out several "Earth like" planets that have their parent star at the right distance close enough to support life but whether humans could possibly create something to travel that far Is highly doubtful. I wouldn't worry too much Ron. In a billion odd years, there will very little here to connect me or you to anything that ever happened on Earth
Yes but it's not logical for someone to suggest we might find somewhere else to live whilst not recognising that maybe that's exactly how we got here How can it be anything else? If it wasn't, there would be an end/outside. In which case what is outside or beyond the end? I'm sure they will. Look at the progress in the last 50 years. I'm sure, in the next thousand years they will have perfected digitising life and transmitting it together with the software to re-generate it on arrival, or found a way to travel at the speed of light. They might even create a space station that just travels continuously until a suitable planet is found for whatever generation finds it (a sort of Noah's Arc?) I never worry STH but It does fascinate me. Maybe we could leave a little clue; I'll start a forum "Not on Earth 606"
The theory of evolution is pretty sound, DNA history makes it impossible to argue unless one is a religious nut. It's just a theory. One of hundreds. Not fact. That's the problem, you would have to travel astronomical speeds and in doing so time would start to reverse! ****, I made a balls of the quotes
Nope, hardly Ron, I don't know anything about you so definitely not calling you anything religious, just generally speaking.
This is a huge subject Ron and really should have it's own platform. I'd start it myself, but the idea was yours and you should get the credit for it. Before we get too far into this, please open a thread and transfer all that's so far been posted. The subject has the capacity to go far and wide and it will also probably bring theology as well.
