Sometimes a written statement doesn't come over in the way that is meant or is misunderstood completely.
We all need to make allowances or at least ask questions for explanations...............

Imagine if we re-signed Chambers, got him firing again, and then, instead of learning his lesson, he chases the coin once again at the first opportunity.

Once I can forgive, but twice, that's a joke.

I was pointing out that he wants best for his club, I don't like how Spurs leak **** to the press, but to be honest which bigger club doesn't do that these days?

Man U were the first team to start that, hence this Fonte situation. Liverpool are just as bad, and things are only made worse by Sky Sports sticking a microphone under anything that breathes.

Especially as no doubt Arsenal will have a nice sell on clause. I shouldn't worry....this is probably only a fan fantasy (Les Reed doesn't do sentiment) and apparently Chambers fancies going abroad. Can't imagine he feels like coming back...richer but chastened.

The old "If other people are doing it, then that makes it ok" argument

Spurs are like Katie Price or some other "share all" reality star. Desperately pimping themselves out in the hunt for attention

Disgraceful from Spurs. I can't see how Palace could even consider letting the player go at this stage of the window (or mercato as Puel calls it).

I don't think there is anything wrong with bidding for a player right up until the transfer window closes. It's a deadline.

Zaza arriving in London today ahead of a move to West Ham  Really wanted us to sign him but I don't know how likely that ever was.

Yeah I do agree with that. Of course it's preferable for all parties to do their business early, but sometimes it's just not possible, so a bit confused that it should be seen as some great no-no to put in late bids.

What are you on? Let's jump to a massive assumption of I was saying it was OK in a veiled manner. At no point did I say it was ok.

It's what football is these days, accept it or be twisted and bitter over it, that's your prerogative. Your Katie Price comparison is pathetic, grow up.

Not so much being a late bid as not doing it through the right channels. A late bid might be welcomed by some teams who want to clear the decks.

Ah okay, yes then, my misunderstanding. How that process is conducted by Spurs does indeed leave a lot to be desired.

Think you'll find Levy has a well earned reputation for conducting his club's business in a dishonourable manner. You can be effective to the point of ruthlessness in business without compromising your integrity, but Levy never seems to manage it; witness the recent resignation of the head of recruitment spurs recently poached from us a just one example of people getting fed up with the way he goes about things.

Levy is a businessman / spurs fan. You've got to be ruthless to get anywhere as a businessman. I don't understand the utter distaste towards someone, especially when he's not the first to do so.

My comparison was based on their shrewdness in getting the best deal for the club.

The crap about Zaha has only been piled on due to sky sports. I'm sure this isn't the first time Parish has gone to the press to have a bitch and moan about something or another. I personally think he stooped to Spurs' level.

He could have easily come out and nipped it in the bud without the bravado.

I doubt Parrish is an angel himself, but I suspect he was exasperated at the way spurs do business; he certainly wouldn't be the first.

Once again, you can be a tough negotiator without being underhand and dishonest. For some people with old fashioned values, a man's word is still his bond, and a handshake as good as a contract. I doubt anyone would ever say that of Levy, I suspect a few would of Les Reed. How often do you hear of anybody in the wider football community being critical of the way Saints do business? With spurs you hear it all the time.
