Its a shame that it comes it this , A two week ban is fine but a total ban is way over the top . I have seen people leave this people site for being picket on by others with different views on things that have jack **** to do with football ." we are a watford fans forum" And SH is not that evil
Brian I think that two weeks for SH to go away and think is maybe the best thing. It is up to him to decide if he wants to join in with us in a reasonable manner, or not. At the end of the day it will be him, not H or Minxy who decide. I think that they have handled it very well and given him the option. It is now down to him entirely.
Try having every post a person makes aimed with snide remarks at you Brian - since he was away for two weeks he came back and four out of four posts were designed to wind me up. He makes no posts on football matters and on politcs and the rest he attacks whoever he disagrees with. I left the forum for six months after he told me that living with me must be fun in reference to my wife who has cancer. For that I used the C word on him -totally out of character for me but sometimes a person pushes you too far. I nearly fell out with Yorkie in defending SH in the past but it turns out Yorkie was correct. I beleive SH is a nasty person who derives pleasure in upsetting people. Even so - if he would like to conduct himself in a reasonable fashion on here -as every other poster does then we would not call for him to be banned. I thank Hornette, brb and Minxy for their handling of this - which gave him every opportunity to "behave" and he still can after two weeks if he chooses to. The thing that upsets me is that W_Y has left because of the threat to ban SH - that is a real shame as he was a superb contributor.
Agree with you 100% Leo, I think if you ran a popularity poll on here he would come just below L*ton!
Desperate news coming from the vineyards down south, telling us that wine production is likely to reduced by at least 10% due to the lack of rain and heat. This will of course put the prices up here a little, but the UK will have to pay a lot more because of the devaluation of the pound. An identical bottle of mid-quality wine that sells for €3 here I have seen in Dorset at £7.99.
I try to stay out of subjects that people have very strong views .BUT i read everything and at times SH and OTHERS has over stepped what is reasonable . People have left this site because of subjects with nothing to do with football (some have come back) and its very sad that W_Y said he no longer wanted to be part of this site because of a poss ban on SH . A BAN must be the last result
Brian, i assure you that a full ban would be the very last resort. I am not in favour of bans at all and have tried my best to get SH to stop posting constant digs at Leonardo over the last few weeks to no avail. I hope a full ban won't be necessary, it's not anything we have done on this board before and i'd hate to think we would start now, i just hope that if there is to be a 2 week ban, that SH will understand that there are other things to talk about other than Leo and his one time use of the C word. Afterall, there is a filter if people don't want to see bad words. I hope that reassures you
I agree that many of us have occasionally over stepped what is reasonable. Often that is in the heat of a debate. However only SH makes every single post provocative and shows almost no interest in the football. Do you really put SH in the same category as anyone else? What is your definition of wumming - or bullying - have you ever been the victim of a bully? For many of us Politics etc is a way of keeping the site alive when football is dormant. I admit to having used the C word against SH - it was done in extreme circumstances and is the one and only instance I have sworn on this site. If you do not believe that the bullying and wumming SH carries out are unreasonable to a far greater extent than any other poster then I would like to see how you figure that out. If he ceases to be nasty he will get to stay - is that not fair? Hornette and our supermods have acted with restraint and care - I applaud them.
I disagree, W_Y decided to leave because I wasn't ostracised for reacting to SH's (and his in a way) behaviour and approach on here. W_Y attacked every post I made for a few weeks + accused me of not being a real Watford fan because I didn't know every Hooters location in the UK, and had a few dodgy racist jokes on the 'Some fun' thread that were not acceptable. You are all free to interpret his decision as you wish, but unfortunately he has run out of toys to throw out so someone needs to fill his pram up again
OK - I was just going on his comment about if SH got banned he would leave so took that at face value. I guess most of us are more complicated than we seem at first sight. He - like everyone else has some very strong views but he does argue them - as all the rest of us do with one exception. I miss all those who no longer post - not least Sir Luther Blisset and Norway. We have lost Baby Hornet Dan and Dan Starkey and many others too - their posts were positive contributions to this site.
Dan stopped posting because he was worried his views on Brexit would impact his career, and I agree with him, the real world is more important than arguing with deluded idiots online.
H - I've been in the control panel it's quite complex but I've had a fiddle with your buttons, and updated all your functions. You should hopefully now be able to see reports and maybe a few extras, maybe get some one to send a test report for you to see. It will display top left of your screen once active. I've enabled every function for you except hard delete from the data base. No mod is allowed that due to the extensive damage it can cause to the site and did once with a rogue mod. If you find you are having any probs I will have another fiddle. I will reiterate though to all site members, unlike in the past where you could create duplicate accounts, that is now extremely difficult if not nigh impossible, plus I have access to the gateway to see everything that comes in, no matter how clever people might think they are you will remain banned until your mod requests it to be lifted or a timescale is set at the time of banning. Thanks " H " for your comments on banning problem members .I think that we kind of knew that it was always a last ,last resort . SH is the only member that i have had the pleasure of spending time with face to face . He will not like me saying this , But he can be a nice guy and like a lot on here he would not make 1/2 the comments if it was face to face . Leo the reason that SH may not show that much interest in football ,Could be that he has been going to the Vic since the early 60s plus he and his wife have been ST holders for many many years .
