However, Barnetta's British representative Barry McIntosh has acted with fury at Newcastle's offer for the player. McIntosh claims that Newcastle have offered the player less than what he currently earns in Germany. "As it stands there is not a hope in hell that he will be going to Newcastle. In fact I am angry at their attempts to do it, and behind my back also," he told skysports.com. "They have made an approach, but their offer equates to somewhere in the region of £40,000-a-week - which is just ridiculous. "Why on earth would Tranquilo move to Newcastle for less money? No offence to Newcastle, he would possibly consider going to Arsenal, Liverpool even Tottenham for less - but not Newcastle. "They have known all along, what it would take to land Barnetta and what he is earning now, and this sort of offer really does border on ridiculous."

But to call it an insult and ridiculous when it's well above the national ANNUAL wage in this country just shows what a different world footballers (and agents *cough*****s*cough) live in
I agree with his representative, why would he move to a club in turmoil who treat the players like dirt, drain the club of assests and then don't re invest? For less than he currently earns, that is a joke.
Ashley is just seeing if we can get him on the cheap as he is so tight, I imagine there will be an improved offer.

Its a lot of money if you ask me when married to the lads abilities. However you have to look at it coldy, and it appears to be a spurious offer which would never succeed, and they knew it. Or maybe Mike think he's created a Europe bound squad so he'd be desperate to join! Haha. I'd be kind of uncomfortable paying this lad 50k I must admit, as much as I think he is a good player. It is a joke to ask a player to take a wage cut to join you, when you are already at a good club, and have been linked with plenty around Europe.
Don't know why we just don't sign Carlton Cole and get it over with, we all know it's coming. I just hope these comments force MA to offer more but I do wonder what he's on. I'm also happy that there has been contact regarding Barnetta.

I agree with this, TBH when I started reading I was ready to laugh at Newcastle but got angry with the insult bit. Nothing wrong with wanting more but why be so disrespectful.
