Working all day. Had an hour to get in the sea, it's ****ing mental down here, 15ft-18ft swell, got a reasonable wave at a sheltered spot that the tourists don't know about. Heard later that a family had been swept out to sea and the father drowned and little 2 year old girl in hospital in critical condition, very sad. Probably a family on holiday who didn't realise how freak waves can surge and wash over the rocks. Now chilling with a beer and got last night's left over risotto to mop up the lager :)

Used to go surfing at Perrenporth when I was a student. We used to sleep in the back of a van. Had my own wetsuit, hired the board.

Got pissed most nights on scrumpy, back when it was real scrumpy!...<cheers>

There's still a few places down here where you can get a proper pint of hand pulled cloudy scrumpy :)

****ing brain damage most of it!

There'd be all these old ****ers with bright red noses and flat caps sat on a bench, and a wooden barrel of scrumpy on the bar.

Yeah it's potent stuff. I used to live in Worcestershire when I was a student and my local was a little watering hole on the banks of the Severn where people used to moor their narrow boats. That place sold the best Scrumpy ever. Proper Hereford apples, there were still bits of apple floating in the brew. That pub used to flood every year and they would still stay open. They used to have a little aluminium punt that they'd ferry people in and out. When you got inside, the same old characters were still there, propping up the bar, pint in one hand wearing their waders, standing shin deep in water.

I'm watching the Olympic football gold medal match. Brazil are all over Germany but it looks like it will go to extra time.

I went to the gold medal match in 2012 and it was, in all honesty, a bit boring. Missed the last, ultimately irrelevant goal, as I wanted to get away quickly to get across scummy London to watch Mo on the big screen in Hyde Park.

2012 Olympics were fantastic. The time difference has spoiled these Olympics a bit.

Bit pricey over your way NSIS. Is it a tourist area. I'd expect to pay only about €35 down here in the sticks. Must be the price you pay for all those semi-naked chicas on the beach.

Neymar just scored the final PK in Olympics shoot out to give 5-4 victory over Germans.

Brazil get Gold and Germans lost a shoot out.
