I was having a conversation with @Swarbs about this transfer rumour, we both agree it's probabaly nonsense but the conversation mainly revolved around would our fans be annoyed with Klopp if he sanctioned this? In said no from my point of view as I have always thought he's a crap player and that he would be a car crash at Utd, Swarbs thinks otherwise and that there might be a backlash if he was to go and grab some goals. I think it's been about 70 years since we sold a player to Utd? Thoughts?
My view on this is that the rumours about him are likely made up based on his success under Mourinho at Inter and Raiola being his agent. But also because I doubt Klopp would dare do something which could backfire, particularly when he hasn't really proven himself at Liverpool yet. Whilst I accept most of you would probably initially have a chuckle about us signing one of your rejects and taking him off your hands, would that be the same if he scored a few important goals, potentially helping us achieve a higher league finish, maybe even winning a title or other trophy. After all, if Mourinho did decide he wanted him then you'd have to assume he believed he could get some goals out of him. In that case, would you be happy for Klopp to potentially support your biggest rivals, even if it was by selling a player who has been ****e for Liverpool?
Of course the rumour is rubbish but I would laugh, sing, and dance the funky chicken naked in the street if we sold Balo to United. Even if it were a freebie. It would be fantastic news.
If they gave us £15m id take it. If he then started playing well if be annoyed, but it's not like he would have been playing well for us instead So we haven't really lost anything.
I think that if he went and they were successful it wouldn't really be because of him he would only play a small part anyway and seeing as they could sign pretty much anyone and they would be more effective I'm sticking with happy to sell him. With a bit of luck he'd cause problems other than scoring goals.
52 years ago we signed Phil Chisnall from Man U in 1964. That was the last bit of direct business between the clubs. Not sure on Liverpool to Man.U though
personally i would be horrified if you bought Balo but only for this reason otherwise i'd be delighted .
This hostility has to stop especially when it comes to transfer between club .I remember a defender Sir Alex will not sanction coming to us even the player wanted to come. That was during the time of Rafa. People are more civilized.
Can we just GIVE him to you? Seriously...I can't see him turning it around on his how many new starts is it now? He might score the odd goal but nothing I think that would have a serious effect over an entire season. And if he does? Well to Mourinho for somehow getting him square.* *based on something that isn't going to happen lol
That's it in nutshell - the need to get rid (and get our money back) is greater than any fear of him doing well down the line. Klopp has taken a look and decided he can't do anything with him.: that's good enough for me.
Because most things are possible in football a small part of me (I'm not saying which small part) thinks "what if?". It would be intensely annoying if Mario went to Utd and did well - however, he's caused trouble wherever he's been and frustrated everyone who's ever tried to guide him (including Maureen the first time round) so I can't see him being anything other than a total pain in the arse. Take him.
No, we insist. As a token of good will we will sacrifice our happiness and let you take Mario from us.
