I remember in the 80's getting pink bubble gum that tasted like Germolene/Deep Heat where you also got an acid face tattoo to transfer onto your arm.
Pick n Mix, about a kilo of it, no fudge, no raisins, no jelly babies, no white mice... but the rest, heap it all in. I'm off to the cinema tonight actually, looking forward to it more now.
I remember if you were lucky in a 10p mix up you would get a chocolate in a coloured foil cup. They were so nice they cost 2p then later 3p each. Something about this chocolate they just tasted so nice, like Belgian chocolate or something. please log in to view this image

Yeah, you'd get a ****ing flying saucer in there as well, the worst sweets ever, pieces of floaty ****. Then if you were really bloody unlucky you'd get a pack of parma violets and that'd basically start off the boy-period meltdown of epic proportions, 15p mix and half of it is utter ****. Nails out in the street when the Icey comes driving round, your tyres are ****ed pal, thanks a bunch for them parma violets you toss pot ****.
I don't like posh chocolate me, give me a Mars bar any day of the week over a poncy salted caramel 'indulgence' bar. Miniature Heroes and Celebrations... that'll do for me, lots of little ones, loads of Milky Way's left at the end.
Parma Violets are just offensive as far as I'm concerned. Them bubblegums in the shape of golfballs were a close second. Nothing horrible about them, just a bit of a let down when you pulled one out of the bag. please log in to view this image
You get them in those bumper bags. They are like the black sheep of the family amongst that lot! There are always left at the end and often chucked out with the otherwise empty bag.
Flying saucers have to be the most overrated sweets ever, they basically taste like fizzy paper. I like sour sweets these days, Astro belts are good for that, so sour they make you pull that sucking on a lemon face. I get mixed fruit sherbets too, the orange ones aren't great but the lemon and lime make up for it. Used to be partial to foam bananas and pink shrimps as a kid and anything cola flavoured.
Hated these. please log in to view this image And these please log in to view this image Proper ruiner of an otherwise fine mix up.
