To be honest, I've suspected for a while that you're doping. Only logical reason for you winning last season's FF
That's really interesting. I was just considering whether it was to do with French being spoken in England after the Norman Conquest and as the centuries rolled on and French was being dropped, words which we still had that were borrowed from French like herb[e] and fillet started to be pronounced in English dialect. Over the pond, however, they kept the French pronunciation fill-ay as opposed to fill-uhtt.
The 'h' was added because the Geordie's that ventured over there with the pilgrim fathers pronounced "erb" as "orb" and ****ed things up.
http://www.bbc.com/sport/weightlifting/37173158 widespread doping fails on rechecks for bejing olympics in weightlifting. I hope many cheats get done this way. I do have to wonder about the samples and they authenticity/reliability after 8 years though.
Freezing the samples maintains their integrity so any subsequent testing is completely valid and reliable. Think of frozen sperm samples which are still viable for up to 10 years.
The technology required to freeze the samples was just the first big step. They're coming up with improved techniques all the time e.g. a discovery was made for a test for plastic residue from the bags some cyclists used for EPO-laden blood transfusions. Because EPO's been notoriously difficult to detect, the test for the 'plasticizer' gave the drug fighters a back door method to prove someone was using the drug. As new discoveries like that are made, they can go to all the cyclists stored samples and re-test them using the new method and catch them out years later when they think they've got away with it or are still getting away with it.
The biggest step forward was the introduction of biological passports as can penalise without a positive test if someones blood sample produces a marked difference to the original passport without justification
Yes that's been a good step forward as well although there's some banned athletes who claim they have legitimate reasons for their anomalous readings. It's also thought that the cheats turn to micro doping [little and often] to avoid detection.

Saw him win that ... hopefully through the publicity somebody nice with money steps in and he gets it back and the charity still get their money
Holy **** we thought the item they were given in the Olympic medal presentation was a bit cack but dearie me what in the name of god is the head with metallic hair all about
Take a bow Dame Sarah Storey Silver for Crystal Lane whose parents decided she should sound like she was a porn star
Got to say it's pretty ****ing amazing the performance levels of these guys given the serious disabilities they have ... don't mean that in a patronising way at all, their fitness is a huge example and an embarrassment to loads of people who never get off their arses at all and blow out after about a minute of exercise Makes you think about how mostly everyday life is geared around able bodied people. There's been a guy started coming in my gym recently who's in a wheelchair and from his pov a lot of the equipment must have ****ty design, he does free weights and stuff fine and goes on the cable machines but they're not brilliant for his chair i think
A bit ironic that the BBC kept pushing their Get Inspired website in almost every Olympics interview with an athlete, while in comments sections below newspaper articles, viewers whined about having to push a button on their remotes to switch from BBC1 to BBC2. And the gold medal for Couch Potato goes to....
