Roland the Slag went a whole 2 weeks without selling a home grown Academy asset, but now it looks as if normal service has been resumed. Rich Cawley has Tweeted that Tarieq Holmes-Dennis is signing a 3 year contract with Huddersfield today. Good enough for the team currently top of the Championship, but can't get into our side so must be sold as Roly the Slag doesn't like paying players who don't play. Another stupid, counter productive and destructive piece of asset stripping - sell a home grown asset for a profit and smuggle in a Crofts or Foley to keep the simple minded on ITTV happy.
P.S: This transfer makes Russell Slade either a liar or a fool. Two weeks ago he said no more "major players" were leaving. Looks like it's not just Meire who is slippery with her words eh Russ ?!
The CEO has been true to her word - she said in Dublin that Charlton's customers would get to briefly enjoy the home grown stars of the future before they are sold on.
Maybe they will use the fee from Holmes-Dennis to give Kevin Foley a new 3 year contract. That would make perfect sense.
Really angry (again). How much would we have got for this lad? A minimal wage off the club and a potential star sold for (probably) peanuts. KM is quite clearly a girl who can't say no.
I wondered how the 'major' comment would play out. Reckon Tex will fall in to the category in slades opinion.
I remember seeing THD as a 16-year-old for the first time along with AHLL, and making a comment along the lines of "Blimey, he's got some engine on him". I always wanted to see how he'd do with a run in the first team, same with Pope, and like Pope another team will benefit from our generosity.
Meire: "Russell, Huddersfield have made a bid for Holmes-Dennis" Slade: "Don't sell him love, I've only got Fox and he is fookin sh!te" Meire: "But I can't justify paying players who don't play Russell, that would be weird"
Slade "If you think that's best my lovely I've always got Jackson who can play left back...... if you want me for anything else I'll be in Sparrow's restaurant"
Maybe THD asked for Roger Johnson's advice: THD: Hey, Roger, I hear Udders are interested. It's a long way up north, what do you think I should do? Johnson: F*** off you c***. THD: OK, I will, cheers, Roger.
If George Orwell was still alive he could write a sequel to Animal Farm based on Charlton, and call it "Players Farm"
Wagner - former manager of one of the best youth academies in Europe. Tells you all you need to know.
As a regular at the Academy games I am seriously pissed off with the Player farm going on at Sparrows Lane. What is the ****ing point of having an Academy? It certainly is not for the benefit of Charlton. It is for the benefit of Staprix. The fee we will get for Holmes- Dennis will be tiny in comparison to the money wasted on ****e like Polish Pete, Ba, Bergdich, Tucudean, Reza, Nego,Vaz Te, Sarr, and all the other network and crap signings we have made. We always undersell our players, look at the fee we got for Cousins.
I hear that Texeira and Ba's agents have been hawking them around but no takers. Texeira has got a big fat contract. If they don't go this transfer window I can see their contracts being paid up. More money down the ****ter. As regards Archie Edwards, I would like to see him push into the first team squad. He is, after Fox, the only other left back on the books.
I thought he was better than Fox and that was the season before last. If we sold him now we'd be lucky to get a 6-figure sum, he's nowhere near getting a spot in a L1 team, God knows why. Maybe Roland doesn't want the "Dear fans" to see how much potential he has got before he goes. I know he's skinny, but he's tough enough.
Why would they sell the youngens without them proving there worth in the team.. the money differential is huge down the track... it makes no sense at all.
