From memory I dont think either Genoa club - Sampdoria and Genoa - have their name or initials on their badges.
Games are previewed over here using the badges only. When preview shows start all the badges flash past. If I walk around with a kit on people usually ask me what team it is. All situations where having the name on the badge strengthen the brand identity.
I wouldn't list them among the biggest football clubs in the world and Sampdoria do actually have their name on their badge (you're right about Genoa though).
Great, I won't bother reading as we've clearly established you know **** all about Marketing. Run along now.
Nor would I, I was replying to the part where you said 'the only clubs that don't are MLS clubs'. And its not on the badge all over their website or the one on their shirt they dont, unless the pics I just checked are wrong.
We have had the nickname the Tigers for longer than Man Utd have had the Red Devils or Crystal Palace have had The Eagles.
Are there any English professional teams that don't have a nickname? As I said I cant think of any, even if it's something ****e like 'The Reds'.
Not that it is particularly important but I thought I had read that initially we were nicknamed The Citizens until an HDM report after we had been in the league for a couple of seasons said the players in their black and amber striped shirts looked like a team of tigers.
Your point is poorly made, whilst there are more using the old badge there are some with the new. In one they use the old badges but still feel the need to use the club names. Does that mean that the targets of the marketing do not know who Man Utd are? I said in isolation, your example has key indicators. The front cover of the membership pack, in isolation would mean nothing to many outside of Hull, I accept that, but it is part of the membership pack and really it is not isolated and so whilst it is not to my taste, in marketing terms, it makes no difference. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
I thought they were supposed to be meeting the FA and Premier League for fit and proper checks? That was allegedly scheduled yesterday/today. I'm sure there will be things going on in the background. Keep the faith!
Genuine question that I'm interested in the answer to, which I realise can and no doubt will be taken the wrong way, but how would you apply your experience to Hull City? My understanding is that your companies used existing brands and concepts, such as those created by Ferdinando Innocenti, the original lambretta person, the MOD logo adopted by a pop culture and subsequently a 1960's sub-culture record label. I can see we're part of a wider, existing well, marketed culture in football, and specifically the Premier League, so I'm interested how that could be marketed and exploited on a badge.
Can't think there will be. Though there are a handful I couldn't name though I know most of them. Regarding badges, success brings recognition. If Liverpool hadn't been successful and seen on TV would anyone have looked at a badge with an imaginary bird on it and LFC instantly associated it with Liverpool?
