Been to Saints web. Just want to apologise if any of my posts havent been mild or have been a bit WUMmy.

On another note, is there a meeting anytime soon about what I seen as the impending migration crisis of disenfranchised Saintsweb citizens. Just cos it s a nice place to live doesnt mean theycan all just move here right?

Players will come in, not just any player but the right player for our club . It will be done in the Southampton way. A small part of me wants us to go crazy. But could you imagine if we were brought by wealthy Chinese owners who just splashed millions on over aged top players and bought a team of big time Charlie's. The thought of that makes me feel sick. We would lose our identity.

British athletics/Olympic sports have improved greatly since Athens in 2004 and that is down to wise investment in facilities, training, infrastructure, community, getting youngsters involved. The British Olympic Association couldn't just go out and buy a usain bolt for the team.

The Southampton board know the club's strengths a weaknesses. The foundation and capability is there to build from within or acquire what is needed. This gives us an advantage over many clubs in the league but it is tough to continually improve.

I'm a bit scared, yes but these should be exciting times ahead.

I'm sure a couple of training sessions with Davis and Clasie and he'll soon be all trained up to miss the target every time, no problem

That's a very good analogy RAWMOK. By definition, with a very few exceptions Olympic competitors have to be home grown and the infrastructure has to be developed over a period of time. That's what has been happening with the help of the Lottery funding and explains why our medal tally has steadily increased since 2004. We are now the most successful Olympic nation over the biggest range of different sports. The parallel with Southampton FC since 2009 is a strong one, as our growth has been a sustainable one and the comparison of improved league position against medals won proof of the success.

I fully believe in the project, I enjoy the way we conduct ourselves, I've always been proud of my club and that hasn't changed. But this summer, money feels devalued. Watching other transfers take place really shows how the football market place is nearing some sort of destruction. The Mane fee, well we let go too quickly didn't we, we held the cards but played them badly. I can live with that, but if we let Jay & Fonte go and gamble on the wrong people, we could well upset the continuity of the squad. What has Jay done for two years....a question asked by someone earlier.....well I'll tell you what he's done, he's fought back from an injury that causes nearly as much psychological damage as it does trauma on the body. He has been around the squad day to day, and been a SFC player for four years. Perhaps he's the one orchestrating the move because he can see how limited his chances will be, fair enough, but we shouldn't be questioning what he's done for us right now, seems very harsh. Fonte, well as I've said before, he should be putting fires out. If he has lost a little respect from people like us, then I expect there will be a few in the dressing room giving sideways glances. I hope he doesn't get his dream move, but I also hope we don't reward his petulance with a new deal.
I feel sorry for Les, if you think about the situation its very hard to see what is the best thing to do, every option appears to be a throw of the dice, its just how much you have riding on it.

Its a good anaolgy and it basically comes down to ambition. If you look at the medal tally for Olympic host nations it generally spikes around their hosted games. After that public interest wanes and investment decreases and medal hauls decrease. Look at Australia for a great recent example.

Yes the meticulous planning and all does sound like our management [albeit British funding is almost Chelsea level comparatively], however Farah or Ennis cannot get hoovered up by Liverpool every year! Oh well people like Farah may not be able to immigrate here soon :(.

On the Fonte saga, I know people say he is replaceable, however his experience in a pretty young team is invaluable.

Hate to pour fuel on a smouldering ember but isn't Boufal crocked? Minor miniscus op but I havent seen aything about when he's due back to first team action.

I'd be hoping that whoever comes in would be able to actually play for us.

After activating the trail Lyonnais Rachid Ghezzal (24), Southampton manifested concretely to recruit Sofiane Boufal (22 years), the attacking midfielder of Lille, whose contract expires in June 2019. According to a French source , the Saints sent an offer of four million euros for Moroccan international, author of eleven goals and five assists last season in Ligue 1.

    PUEL HOT FOR BOUFAL

An insufficient amount for the Great Danes, hoping to around € 20 million, but the negotiations have now started between the two teams. After recovering Jérémy Pied (Nice), Alex McCarthy (Crystal Palace), pierre højbjerg (Bayern Munich) and Nathan Redmond (Norwich City), Claude Puel's successor, Ronald Koeman, is highly interested in the former which Angevin has a good outlet for the summer Mercato. Remember, Naim Sliti (24 years, Red Star) was sought for weeks to compensate for any starting number 7 LOSC. But attention to the competition that prepares Montpellier, meanwhile, after Ryad Boudebouz.
