It is. It just seems to be another one of those games that's more enjoyable playing than watching, like badminton and golf.
Wait until Tokyo lol: this sport is only for participators and perverts...maybe the speed climbing others will like. Lead Climbing: Speed Climbing: Bouldering:
Highlights got a few David Radisha retaining 800m , Bolt (with added Gatlin thrown in) Sophie Hitchon in the hammer Laura Trott's sublime performance in the Omnium. Whitlock winning Gold twice plus the Chinese pole vaulter getting soaked
hmmmmm... highlights. swimming with phelps. thats just amazing really... seen the end (again) of someone we may never see bettered Bolts last olympics... it wasn't spectacular but the 100m was the higlight. just ran away after 50m. The boxers giving it large after being cheated the booing of drugs cheats for me was a real highlight at the swimming. nothing captured the imagination really though... nothing sensational like huge world records (ahem that don't just look like pure doping and cheating that is) the basketball was dull, the football was worthless, the boxing was a disgrace, the sailing was choppy.... the golf was awful. all in all... it was on too late for me. some of you appeared to be up to 1 and 2 am every night but some of us have to pretend to work or are not young fit he-men.
I watched an olympics highlight show on NBC last night. The only non-American athelete they mentioned was Usain Bolt. Had you watched the show you could be forgiven for thinking he was the only non-American at the olympics. I know every country is a little biased towards their own atheletes but it is ridiculous over here... Its as if no one else exists.
I love America and always have but it's about as insular a country as there is. The World Series for instance. Not knowing that other English speaking countries have different words for the same thing. When I was in the US a guy said to me 'don't you call highways autobahns in Britain?'
It has the same principles as football and most other team sports and is pretty much non-stop, in what way did you find it boring? Was it because you didn't understand the rules? Just bare in mind all those fantastic football games that end 0-0 or where one team scores early and defends for the rest of the game.
Partly not understanding the rules I suppose. I found it frustrating seeing all the energy put into it with very little reward. I take your point about a 0-0 draw in football but I have an allegiance in football so that makes a big difference. I'm guessing you play hockey.
I do. Why was there little reward, the womens final finished 3-3 and a shootout. How many football games in tournament football have a 3-3 score line, the Euros was boring with most teams choosing to defend and scraping through. Is this because you want to see people aimless shooting from miles out, How'd that work for LFC on Saturday? I actually watched some of the Prem on Sunday (as there was nothing happening in the Olympics on the last day) and frankly I found it boring and overhyped and tbh that seems to be the norm rather than the exception. I also have an allegiance to football but that doesn't stop me from turning off a boring game and acknowledging that football isn't a good as Sky would like you to think it is, I must admit my passion for Football has declined slightly over the last two weeks
He turns it down because of the wicked actions of the Empire 300 years ago...At least he actually knows some Africans....
Based on the likes of Brooking getting one for his contribution to sport(football in particular)Mo deserves two knighthoods.
I'm sorry if I've spoken out of turn with my 'boring' comment, I really didn't mean to upset anybody. Don't tell RHC but I find cricket the most boring of all. We're all different - one man's meat etc etc. so we don't all find the same excitement or enjoyment in the same things. I love basketball for instance, you probably find that boring, I know mito thought the Olympic basketball was boring while I was literally on the edge of my seat for some of the games e.g. the Aussie/Spain game. I'm at an age where having enjoyed footie for many years, I now only watch Liverpool and not going to many games, I can't always get myself in the mood to watch us on the telly and I agree with you lots of it is really boring but no matter how much I say I'm not overly investing in it, I still find myself logging on to view Klopp's pre-match presser etc.
Sadly it is not going to be a certainty although for his achievements it should be the minimum. Some have received knighthoods for much less and as the greatest athlete Britain has ever had, he probably deserves a peerage like Coe. When he did that incredible double he was not even considered for a knighthood.
Hopefully public opinion makes the decision for the government, they will probably balance giving Mo a knighthood/peerage by giving Giggs one also as Fergie has stipulated.
Mo Farah is a great athlete for sure and will probably get a knighthood although in my view he should be standing one step behind Dalglish in the queue.
