Is this post remotely serious? Please tell me Astro is kidding here? Some kind of HIAG type trolling?
As does literally everyone else on the planet with more than a single braincell. Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea almost certainly. Arsenal and Spurs, extremely likely
I can't see top 4 being realistic. Honestly 6th would be an achievement. I predict we'll finish 7th again. We moved sideways in the xfer window. I'm glad we got a new keeper (untested with us yet) but other than that we only made minor improvements. We still need a LB, a CB, a CDM, and a decent striker. Where we improved in the traner window: AM- exactly the one position we have good options already. Without a decent transfer window we won't improve. Let's look at our striker options: Sturridge; used to be great, occassioally still is but he looks lethargic compared to his old self and how long will he stay fit? Origi; is a decent player for an upper mid-table team. He's not going to strike fear into a top 4 defence. He has some good games and some bad games. Firm; better played in AM, comparable to Origi up top. Ings; when he starts games he sores goals but he's unproven in big games, Klopps 4th choice and not likely to see much action. Personally, I think he has a lot of potential but Klopp doesn't value him to play him. Every good team needs a great striker. We don't have one. We'll never break top 4 with that paltry line-up.
Pretty much the way I see Liverpool now too. You have a few decent players but far too many no marks in your XI
I like Klopp, I think he's a fantastic manager and good enough to coach a league winning team but I do fail to comprehend the clubs transfer policy season this summer: strengthening areas we're already decent at whilst ignoring the many weak spots at the club.
Not to mention the fact that he says this a couple of months after Leicester finished 1st, after being 14th and on the verge of relegation the previous season.
My funny bone must be having a day off. Or perhaps I'm just out of touch with what passes for comedy these days. It didn't bother me that it's taking the piss out of Scousers and LFC fans - God knows we're used to that - just that it was entirely devoid of humour. I think the only ones to find it funny would be those whose sides split at anything that mocks someone they don't like.
Everything he's ever convinced himself about LFC has gone to pot. Remember the scene from Alien where Ash (the cyborg) finally cracks... before getting hit over the head with a baseball bat and going doolally. Astro
I think Mane has got to be an improvement on Benteke, for us anyway. I think we need a Benteke type player on the bench, but not for £32.5m, and it's dreadfully unfair on the player himself. But not getting a LB or DM seems preposterous. Not unhappy with the other buys this summer though.
Mane is a good player. A great transfer... My only problem is just he plays in a position that was low on priority of list of spots that needed improving. He's a big step up on Benteke but a different position. Mane will have a good future with us. I wish we had got Mane quality for DM or LB or Striker. In attacking mid we already have Coutinho, Firm, La La , Milner (a workhorse but I think is much better than most on this board give credit) Henderson (who admitedly hasn't done well recently). Mane improves us but It wasn't a weak position to begin with.
I do think he will improve us significantly - and perhaps crucially -if he keeps up the way he's been playing so far. I'm expecting him to be more direct than the others you mentioned, who - in games like the last - tend to faff about prettily just outside the box until one takes a shot out of desperation. We don't do the crosses to the big man stuff, and we haven't got one any more anyway, so we need an alternative. If there are 12 players in the box we're unlikely to score from outside it. We need someone to run into the box - either the ball will ping about a bit and an opportunity may arise, or we might fluke a pen. We had no plan B at all on Saturday.
I think Mane was a big signing because we badly lacked a pacy, wide man who can run at defenders. Whilst Moreno won't get assists or put in great crosses but he gives us width and creates space for others. We had neither of them on Saturday which meant we had zero width because Clyne isn't great going forward and Sturridge and Coutinho aren't natural wide players.
What's not to like or find funny. It merely highlights how epicly stupid people are.. Something you must be used to on here with some of your more backward fans.
Not really because Milner was left back and didn't give us any width. He kept on trying to come inside because he's right footed playing on the left and naturally a central midfielder, when you combine that with Coutinho on the same wing coming inside you're left with everyone playing within the width of the 18 yard box which makes it easy for teams like Burnley who defend so compact. Its clear that playing Moreno benefits us greatly in an attacking sense with his energy and his ability to play 1 touch football. He gives us something that none of our other full backs are able to, its just a shame his defending is so erratic.
