    Let's think:

    1. Maybe Les is balancing his budget before bringing someone in? Perhaps he is doing what the fans want and bringing in an attacking player but is adhering to his budget.

    2. Maybe the club aren't convinced by Jay's long term fitness or long term ability has to return to where he was - let's face it, a large number of posers have been posting the same for the last two seasons - they see him every day.

    3. I do not believe for one minute that the highly trained, professional football and fitness experts at our club are going to let Jayrod go if he is ready both in fitness and ability/confidence to be playing for the first team. This is either just a rumour or the staff don't seem him breaking through properly this season.

Pretty sure it's 3. We would not put him on the bench even if we thought he was never going to make it. Austin and JRod are only on the bench because Long and Redmond impressed in pre season. Other clubs are assuming because he is not starting that he is surplus to requirements which is way off the mark. Same theory explains the Austin rumours that surfaced briefly. And Clasie. And Fonte.

    1. If we have to get shot of J-Rod to have disposable cash, then Saints are in deep doo-doo and the owner(s) are taking tons of money OUT the club.

    2. He's never going to be the same player. Pace has gone and that was half his game.

    3. Doesn't need a highly trained fitness expert to see that a player is both running slower and has lost his confidence.

    Hi CBK

    1. Not necessarily, even the most profitable of businesses have a budget and staff that work to it. I'm not suggesting we "have" to do that, just saying that is what Les may be doing.

    2 - see point 3

3 - I agree with point 3 - that backs my point up. It will Only happen if it suits us

IF we are looking to move Jay on, it won't be directly to do with money (i.e. we are desperate for some) but only indirectly (why pay someone that you won't use). Jay will definitely want to play more regularly....otherwise how will he turn fitness into match fitness, but we surely won't part with a striker until he is surplus to requirements (and that certainly isn't the case at the moment). Jay isn't like the striker he was, but is that down to our style and his lack of match fitness.

I'll be disappointed if we loan Jay out. I don't think he's had a chance to prove himself yet and we certainly need all the goal scorers we can find at the moment. I don't agree with loaning our players to other premier league clubs who may end up above us. I don't think they will but what if Jay is the magic ingredient they need?

If Rodriguez leaves my girlfriend is never going to go to another game again <doh> Schneiderlin leaving broke the poor girl's heart so her interests moved to Pelle understandably. She hasn't made up her mind about PEH yet.

He's done at our level. He's lost a lot of pace.

I could've sworn I saw him beat Bailly in a hopeless chase after giving him a five yard headstart, nick the ball off him on the line, keep it in play and set up Redmond on Friday.... I'm not buying the pace argument in the slightest.

If that's his opinion then why shouldn't he express it.

Too often on this forum people are criticised for being negative. You may not agree with it but you can disagree with certain actions by the club and then express that. Not having a go at you Crusti, this is more of a general observation of the forum.

I don't buy this and it annoys me, sorry. By being negative, you're implicitly 'criticising' someone else's positive opinion. By being positive, you're implicitly 'criticising' someone else's negative opinion. In fact you're not with either, you're just disagreeing, but it's only those with negative opinions that get all precious and think they're getting hounded. They're not, it's a disagreement of opinion. It's how a forum goes round.

It's okay to disagree but just look at the post I replied to. It wasn't a post stating a different opinion, it out right said "Stop with the negative views".

Nobody minds criticism of the club. What I get pissed off with is those who jump at the slightest thing and can't wait to moan and can turn amy news into a disaster. Don't tell me there aren't people that do that, because there are. It's the same when there is a game. Home to Watford and 15 minutes in some of the crowd were moaning at Targett, as happened on here for the United game.

Nothing wrong with putting a view across but it gets tedious when it is usually the same thing and usually around this time of year. If you recall there was a mini melt done on here when Puel first joined and people moaning we hadn't signed anyone. Some said wait and be patient. We signed people. Then a few weeks later and it's moaning about no signings again. The same thing happens every summer.

It's either people enjoying criticising or not being able to engage their memory to think what happened in previous years.

The thing that really grates though is that when someone posts something negative and you have the audacity to counter that (which I think is perfectly natural and healthy on a forum about one team), then people start to bleat about not being allowed to be negative. Instead of bleating, debate it, as that's what the forum is about. If you post a criticism or an opinion publicly, then surely you'd expect someone to discuss that with you.

I am heavily criticised for being a happy clapper and "personally attacking" people, whereas all I am doing is looking at the flip side and putting a counter position across.

I have a feeling that the post you are on about is actually sarcastic and a dig at those who don't like negative posts. I may be wrong, but that's my guess.

Personally, I can understand the fan base being negative at the moment. We have sold a lot of our best players, and have completely changed our successful formation, into one which (so far) doesn't look like it suits the players.

The problem is, there are so many OTT reactions. Fans just need to remember that our recent history suggests that we will be fine, and trust the club to bring in some improvements.

I don't think we've seen enough of him yet to make that judgement. Let's see how he is in January.

May be, but wouldn't surprise me if it was meant seriously.

I see your point that complete over reactions are annoying and football fans do have very short memories! I just feel that now and then someone with a negative opinion is shot down immediately. Wasn't aimed at you or anyone else, but I just feel we need to remember all opinions are as valid as each other on this forum.

I think with Puel as manager it was a bit of an underwhelming appointment which felt disappointing. Now we have sold more of our best players with more linked away and it does not feel as though anything is going to come in and any players we are linked to are unknown to many. Think all this is making the reactions a bit more OTT as we don't know what to expect and the season will get harder when European football starts.
