Can't believe this thread has turned into people trying to prove the protests did nothing, Allam selling soon was inevitable etc. We must have the worst supporter base in football.
The only club that don't have the name on the shirt are Spurs and just in case you're in any doubt, they've bunged the name on the socks... please log in to view this image Liverpool don't have the full name, but do have L.F.C under the badge (and just to make sure it's on the shirt, shorts and socks).
Actually the pictured Burnley badge doesn't have their name on it either. (They do have a variant with Burnley Football Club on it, but that one seems to be the one with Preturique et causa liboris; could be wrong, the image quality's so poor and pixellated it's hard to tell).
This is their badge and the same one's on their kit... please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Exactly, defeats the object doesn't it? there are only a handful of clubs which would be recognized internationally without the name as it is..
This is exactly the point. From a branding and marketing point it offers much potential and strength, but if folk only see weakness then that is probably what they will get. The same old same old ...
I'm not debating it, but why do you think it's a good idea to have no playing name reference on our badge? It's ok for our fans, but globally how's that going to work with club recognition?
Set ourselves aside from the crowd, be confident. The difference in itself attracts attention and recognition.
My other explanations plus the name will be elsewhere, both visually and audibly. Being thrown about on a train approaching Gatwick so not easy replying. I think it is something that should be discussed, though.
For me, my background was Marketing it simply doesn't work without a name. For a myriad of reasons. It's not a pioneering move, removing the name was done out of spite and stupidity. To most outside Hull a tigers head and the numbers 1 904 means absolutely nothing. We shouldn't be ashamed to wear our badge with where we are from adorning our shirts. Which is how it appears.
